Having spent 15 years performing on the stage and having many memorable roles in television dramas, Thu Quynh 'My Soi' had to proactively ask for a role in the musical 'Cloud Hair Princess'.

Fortunately, Thu Quynh's offer was accepted. She was cast as the witch in the interactive musical Rapunzel.

On the afternoon of September 7th, the creative team of the musical held a showcase in preparation for its upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival performance. Thu Quỳnh's appearance as a witch made a strong impression on the audience.

Thu Quynh reinvents and upgrades herself.

In this showcase, Thu Quynh only demonstrated her acting skills; she didn't sing solo, only in a group performance, so viewers didn't get to discover her singing voice yet.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, Thu Quynh said that she proactively applied for a role in this musical, rather than being invited, and was very happy that her request was accepted.

She saw this as a wonderful opportunity to learn the basics of vocal music and musical theater, to learn new things and discover different aspects of herself.

Having seen many musicals, Thu Quynh had always dreamed of one day performing in a musical. Therefore, she considered the musical project "Rapunzel" a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. "This is a phase where I want to reinvent myself, to refresh the profession I studied as a stage actress, and to upgrade myself," Thu Quynh said.

She also admitted that her singing voice wasn't very good, her vocal range wasn't wide, and she had never been confident about her voice. Therefore, she worked very hard to learn to sing for her new role. After a period of training with the crew, Thu Quynh found that her singing voice had improved significantly.

Sharing more about what she's doing to "upgrade herself," Thu Quynh said that this is the time she's dedicating to research and study. After earning an additional degree in stage directing, she is currently studying English at university and will soon be taking a master's exam in theater studies.

"My dream is to become a master's graduate in theater studies by the age of 40, a field I'm very passionate about," Thu Quynh said.

Equal access to the arts for all children.

The musical "Princess with Cloud Hair" is directed by Meritorious Artist Cao Ngọc Ánh, with Nhật Quang as the director, based on a script by Kim Thùy. Like Cao Ngọc Ánh's previous musicals, the cast combines artists from the Youth Theatre with some singers and artists from outside the theatre.

Besides Thu Quynh, the cast also includes actors such as Minh Anh as the Princess with the Cloud Hair, Quoc Viet as Quang Phong, Hieu Nguyen as the Gecko, Huu Phuong as the King, and Phan Thanh Phung as the Queen…

However, this time the project is not from the Youth Theatre, but is part of the "Academy of Arts - Happiness is Named" project implemented by a Social Impact Organization.

On this occasion, the organizers also officially announced the Art Academy - Happiness is Called by Name project. This is a special initiative aimed at creating equal opportunities for all children to access art, regardless of their living conditions or background.

The project aims to create an inspiring art environment where every child, whether living in the city, countryside, mountains, hospitals, industrial zones, or any other circumstance, has the opportunity to access art.

Here, children are encouraged to feel, express their emotions, and develop their talents through various forms such as music, dance, acting, painting, storytelling, poetry, and especially musical theater.

Upcoming activities include a free performance of the musical "Rapunzel" at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion; a running event and a themed music night titled "Chill on Childhood" will take place on September 20th, raising funds for programs for children.
