“Currently, the water flow to Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant is very large, up to 6.000m3/s. However, the Ministry is regulating the water discharge to more than 2.000m3/s. With this situation, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant will continue to open the floodgates,” said Deputy Minister Hiep.

Many places are exceeding alert level 3, (meaning the flood is very dangerous, the water level in rivers and streams has risen very high, all low-lying areas have been flooded, including low-lying areas in the city; the safety of riverside protection dykes is being threatened).
“The situation is very tense. We are directing flood discharge to minimize damage downstream. There are currently regulations on response scenarios for each flood level. Localities need to proactively take drastic measures to support and ensure the safety, lives and property of the people,” said Deputy Minister Hiep.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the water level at 7am today on the Thao River in Yen Bai was 33,69m, 3m above alert level 1,69. On the Cau River at Dap Cau it was 4,73m, 1m above alert level 0,33. On the Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong it was 5,47m, 2m above alert level 0,17. On the Luc Nam River at Luc Nam it was 6,70m, 3m above alert level 0,40.
On Lo River in Tuyen Quang 20,15m, below BĐ1 about 1,85m. On Thai Binh River in Pha Lai 3,73m, below BĐ1 is 0,27m.
It is forecasted that the flood on Luc Nam River will change slowly and peak at 6,80m at noon today, and 3m later on BĐ0,5.
Floods on the Lo River in Tuyen Quang continue to rise rapidly. Floods on the Thao River in Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Phu Tho continue to rise slowly.
