Today, the Japanese Parliament will also hold an extraordinary session to elect Ishiba Shigeru, who assumed leadership of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on September 27, as Prime Minister.
Immediately after the inauguration, the new Prime Minister will announce his new Cabinet. Japanese media reported that Hayashi Yoshimasa, Ishiba's opponent in the party election, will retain his position, along with Saito Tetsuo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism , who represents the Komeito coalition party in the Cabinet.
Former Defense Minister Nakatani Gen and former Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi are expected to once again assume similar positions.
