Promoting digital transformation contributes to poverty reduction.

In order to improve the effectiveness of the Women's Union, meet the requirements of fulfilling tasks in the new situation, and keep up with the trends of the technological revolution, in recent times, Women's Unions at all levels in Cam Khe district have actively undergone digital transformation and applied information technology (IT) in their work and women's movements. Thanks to the proficient use of IT, many women members have been able to rise out of poverty, contributing to the effective implementation of Sub-project 1 - Information Poverty Reduction under Project 6 - Communication and Information Poverty Reduction.

The Women's Association of Phuong Vi commune applies information technology in implementing its activities for its members.

Previously, officials of the Women's Union in Phuong Vi commune had to regularly visit each branch in residential areas to disseminate and encourage members to implement new policies and guidelines of the Party and laws of the State, and participate in emulation movements. Now, thanks to mobile phones with social media applications such as Facebook and Zalo, any member can access and grasp information promptly and respond accordingly.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Sinh - President of the Women's Union of Phuong Vi commune shared: “Before accessing information technology, we faced many difficulties because many members in the branches were elderly, and their access to information and application software was limited. Members were also busy working in businesses and therefore could not regularly attend meetings organized by the Union. To overcome this situation, we were determined to implement the application of information technology in organizing Union activities in all branches in the commune. As a result, the Union's activities have achieved high results, saving time and travel costs, and helping members to promptly and fully grasp the Union's policies and plans, contributing to helping members in difficult circumstances rise out of poverty.”

To meet the demands of the new situation, in recent times, women's associations at all levels in the district have promoted the application of information technology in the implementation of association activities. Specifically, the District Women's Union has organized online meetings to deploy software applications for monitoring and managing cadres and members, managing emulation and awards, managing forms, and updating statistical reports within the Vietnam Women's Union system. To date, 100% of grassroots associations have used the application to manage cadres and members, introduce members, and update complete information, ensuring accurate and scientific management.

Social media applications such as Facebook and Zalo are used to create groups that help officials and members search for and share articles about activities, policies, and guidelines related to women. This allows members to easily access useful information, promoting the Women's Union's movements to have a wider and stronger reach.

Cam Khe currently has over 23,000 female members, operating in 257 branches. The application of information technology and the use of online platforms have helped to better disseminate information about the Association's activities and issues of public concern in an accurate and timely manner. The Association, from the district level to the grassroots, actively publishes news articles sharing its activities to spread awareness of its work; and actively participates in competitions launched by higher levels, notably the "Application of Information Technology in Organizing Association Activities in 2024" competition, which has been widely embraced by female members throughout the district.

Comrade Hoang Thi Gam - President of the Cam Khe District Women's Union, said: “We have established the Cam Khe Women's fanpage, which has attracted thousands of interactions from female cadres and members. This is also a place to share information and activities of the Provincial Women's Union and the Central Vietnam Women's Union. Our Facebook page regularly updates news articles about the Union's activities, as well as stories of good people and good deeds, exemplary individuals who have overcome difficulties and escaped poverty, become successful entrepreneurs , and actively participate in humanitarian and charitable activities... creating a ripple effect in the community.”

Through concrete and practical activities, female officials and members of the Women's Union in Cam Khe district have gradually adapted to the digital transformation process, creating a change in mindset and working methods, promoting initiative and creativity in labor and Union work. This has contributed to reducing the rate of poor and near-poor households, increasing the number of well-off and wealthy households, and improving the quality of life.
