Following rumors that Ronaldo might join Inter Miami on a short-term contract to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano asserted that the information is completely unfounded.
"The claim that Ronaldo is Messi's teammate is untrue," Goal quoted Romano as saying.
Since leaving Manchester United to join Al Nassr in 2023, Ronaldo has maintained his incredible form with 86 goals and 19 assists in 97 appearances. Meanwhile, Messi has also shone at Inter Miami with 38 goals and 20 assists in 44 matches.
Messi and Ronaldo have faced each other 36 times in their careers, mostly in El Clasico matches. However, these two football legends have never played together in the same team.
According to new FIFA regulations, players whose contracts expire on June 30th are allowed to sign short-term, one-month contracts to participate in the Club World Cup with one of the 32 clubs competing in the tournament held in the United States.
After the season ends, they can continue searching for a new club or return to their old club with a long-term contract during the official transfer window, as is customary.
Ronaldo is currently entering the final months of his contract at Al Nassr, but it is highly likely that the Portuguese superstar will continue to play for the Middle Eastern club instead of moving to the United States.
