From early morning, many residents from residential areas 15, Nghi Phung, Vinh Phuoc, Tan Kieu, and Quang Dong were present, eagerly waiting for their turn to receive financial assistance. Holding the 5 million VND in her hand, Mrs. Le Thanh (65 years old, Vinh Phuoc residential area) couldn't hide her emotion. The floods at the end of 2025 swept away her flock of chickens, which were the main source of income for her and her husband. Her children have their own families, but their lives are very difficult, so they can only provide her and her husband with enough money for daily expenses. “I'm so happy to receive this assistance. I plan to use half of the money to buy chicks to raise and sell eggs for income; the rest will be used to buy feed and seedlings for farming. I hope the chickens thrive so that my husband and I can have some extra income,” Mrs. Thanh shared.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Lai (Quang Dong residential area, Ninh Hoa ward) was also very happy to receive 15 million VND in housing repair assistance. Mr. Lai said that during the floods at the end of 2025, almost all of his family's corrugated iron roof was blown off, and many other parts of the house were severely damaged. “This assistance is very valuable to my family. I plan to use this money to repair the damaged roof and repaint the walls. I will use the remaining 5 million VND from the second round of assistance to repair the kitchen. With the house repaired, my family will feel more secure during the upcoming rainy season,” Mr. Lai said excitedly.
Mr. Tran Hai Dang, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Hoa Ward People's Committee, said: "The practical support from the project not only has material significance but also demonstrates the compassionate and sharing spirit of the community and the local authorities in caring for the lives of the people."
On the same day, in Phuoc Hau commune, 246 people benefiting from the project were also moved to tears upon receiving financial assistance. Smiles and joyful expressions were evident on their faces as they received timely care and support from humanitarian organizations. Ms. Ho Thi Thuan was delighted to receive 15 million VND to repair her house, which was severely damaged by the floods. "The financial assistance is a great source of encouragement, helping my family stabilize our lives," Ms. Thuan shared.
Helping people stabilize their lives.
Mr. Trinh Vinh Sang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society and Head of the Project Management Board for the "Emergency Relief and Early Recovery After Floods in Central Vietnam in 2025" project, stated that Khanh Hoa province has 976 households in 4 communes/wards benefiting from the project: Ninh Hoa, Ninh Phuoc, Nam Khanh Vinh, and Phuoc Hau, with a total non-refundable grant of 4.45 billion VND, including: support for house repairs, livelihood restoration, and unconditional cash assistance. Specifically, 26 households received 20 million VND each for house repairs; 150 households received 7 million VND each for livelihood restoration. Additionally, the project provided unconditional cash assistance to 200 households with 1-2 members at a rate of 2.4 million VND each and to 600 households with 3 or more members at a rate of 4 million VND each. The project divided the assistance into two phases. Currently, residents in the four communes have received the first round of support totaling over 4 billion VND; the second round will be distributed at the end of June.
In addition to providing cash, the project had previously organized training courses on livestock farming and crop cultivation for households receiving livelihood support. “The project not only provides material support but also contributes to enhancing the community's resilience after natural disasters. We hope that the households will use the support resources appropriately and effectively, gradually restoring their livelihoods and improving their family's living standards,” Mr. Sang emphasized.
Although the project's support may not fully compensate for the losses suffered by the people due to the floods, it serves as valuable encouragement for families to restore production and continue to stabilize their lives.
