On the afternoon of March 6, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Department of Culture and Sports held a press conference to provide information on socio -economic issues in the area.
At the press conference, the Department of Finance cited many positive economic results. Accordingly, in the first two months of the year, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue were estimated at VND212,721 billion, up 15.9% over the same period. Export turnover was estimated at USD7.86 billion, up 19.17%. Tourism revenue was over VND37,400 billion, up 30.2%.
Regarding tourism, the number of international visitors to the city increased sharply with over 1 million arrivals, an increase of 15.7%. Notably, the volume of public passenger transport increased by 18.9%. Of which, more than 7 million passengers passed through Tan Son Nhat airport, and more than 3.8 million passengers used Metro Line 1.
Mr. Vo Ho Hoang Vu, Chief of Office of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, informed at the press conference.
According to the Department of Finance, in the first two months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City collected VND108,800 billion in budget revenue, reaching 20.92% of the estimate and increasing by 7.1% over the same period. During this period, the city attracted about USD365.8 million in foreign direct investment (FDI), increasing by 87.1%.
Regarding the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus, the representative of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that all procedures of people and businesses related to the industry are carried out consistently, ensuring that when the district/county police are abolished, they will not be affected. Particularly for the procedures for granting and exchanging driving licenses, the City Police plan to increase 22 reception points to facilitate people, including 17 points in wards and 5 points in communes.
For the event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), according to the Department of Culture and Sports, the city will organize fireworks displays at 7 locations.
