MU is making a profit. |
According to the financial report for the first six months of the fiscal year, Manchester United achieved an operating profit of £32.6 million, a stark contrast to the £3.9 million loss in the same period last year. This figure clearly reflects the impact of the major overhaul since Ratcliffe invested in the club in February 2024.
Amidst the team's debt of £1.1 billion and warnings of bankruptcy due to unsustainable spending, owner INEOS drastically streamlined the organization. Two rounds of staff cuts eliminated 450 positions and removed numerous bonuses and benefits.
Employee benefits alone fell by £7.4 million, to £75.1 million. Controversial decisions such as canceling the Christmas party and ending Alex Ferguson's paid ambassador role were also part of the cost-saving strategy.
In addition, raising ticket prices to a maximum of £66 per match and cutting the wage bill have helped improve the financial balance. For example, Barcelona now pays Marcus Rashford's full £325,000-a-week salary on loan, further reducing the burden on the club.

MU has drastically reduced its operating costs recently. |
Operating profit for the second quarter reached £19.6 million, a significant increase from £3.1 million in the same period last year. However, total revenue for the quarter fell from £198.7 million to £190.3 million due to fewer matches and no European qualification. Matchday revenue decreased by £2.5 million, commercial revenue decreased by £6.6 million, while television rights revenue increased slightly by £0.7 million.
A disastrous season under Ruben Amorim, with the team finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final, cost the club around £100 million. Despite this, the management still set a revenue target of £640-660 million for the year.
Currently, under the leadership of Michael Carrick, MU is ranked 4th in the Premier League and has a strong chance of returning to the Champions League. If they achieve this goal, the Old Trafford club could earn an additional £100 million. This is a crucial financial boost for MU to reassert their position on the European map.
