On the morning of August 1st, information from Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital indicated that a patient with a severed jugular vein in the left side of the neck, who was in critical condition, was promptly saved by the hospital's doctors.

According to initial information, on July 22nd, Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital received patient D.HT (49 years old, residing in Tung Loc commune, Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province) with a complex neck wound caused by a sheet metal cut. The hospital immediately issued an internal emergency alert and conducted a consultation between the General Surgery Department, the Ear-Nose-Throat Department, and the Anesthesia-Resuscitation Surgery Department.

After consultation, the doctors determined that this was a case with complex neck injuries, including a severed jugular vein, tracheal injury (lower 1/3), severed inferior thyroid artery, and a torn pleura at the apex of the lung…, and transferred the patient for emergency surgery.

According to Dr. Nguyen Tien Do (Department of General Surgery, Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital, who directly performed the surgery on patient D.HT), this was a very critical case, with rapid and massive bleeding, the patient suffered severe hemorrhagic shock, and could have died immediately.

A jugular vein injury is a major vascular injury; if not treated promptly, it can lead to rapid blood loss and death. Therefore, it requires decisive and precise action from the doctors. The highest priority was wound treatment, so the doctors proceeded to control bleeding and suture the jugular vein, then sutured the pleura, and continued to treat the tracheal injury...

After receiving intensive care and treatment in the General Surgery Department, patient D.HT's health has now recovered. He can walk, carry out daily activities, eat, and communicate normally. He is expected to be discharged in the next few days.
