The goal is to transform Ho Chi Minh City into a regional-level international financial center, a leading smart city in Southeast Asia, a modern logistics hub, and a national center for science, technology , and innovation.
According to the agreement, Viettel becomes a strategic partner of Ho Chi Minh City in four key areas: digital infrastructure and digital transformation; smart cities; logistics and technology platforms serving the international financial center; and science, technology, and innovation. The two sides will collaborate on researching, proposing, and implementing modern, safe, and highly secure technology solutions in accordance with legal regulations and tailored to the city's specific characteristics.
In 2025, Viettel invested approximately VND 10,000 billion in digital infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City, notably the commencement of construction of a Data Center in Cu Chi with a power capacity of up to 140 MW – one of the largest data centers in Southeast Asia. Simultaneously, Viettel's 4G coverage reached over 99.39% of the city (9,300 base stations). According to this year's plan, Viettel will continue to invest an additional VND 4,000 billion to increase 5G coverage to nearly 100% of the population. Furthermore, Viettel will continue to provide free digital transformation support to thousands of businesses in the city.
