On December 13th, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP), the High-Tech Business Incubator, and other organizations jointly held the final round of the Smart City 2025 competition - an initiative to build a smart city.
In the final results, the Nimbus Foundation won first place in the Business and Innovation Project category with their NIION garlic charcoal project (biomass pellets made from garlic peels), which replaces traditional charcoal and protects the environment. In the Drone Soccer category, the championship went to the General Team and Tran Van On Secondary School.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the SHTP Organizing Committee, the competition is not just about finding purely technological solutions, but is also seeking architects for the city's sustainable future. Regarding the competition category for businesses and innovative projects, he assessed the initiatives as economic solutions to pressing issues of smart cities: from renewable energy and smart transportation to urban data management. This is the core element in building a self-reliant and robust technology ecosystem. In particular, the Drone Soccer competition for students will be a source of future human resources for the aerospace industry. "These students are the future 'pilots' and drone engineers that the city is eager to see," Associate Professor Dr. Le Quoc Cuong affirmed.
