Ho Chi Minh City offers free or discounted fares for Metro Line 1.

TPO - According to Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Party Committee of the City People's Committee will submit to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee a plan to waive/reduce ticket prices during the initial operation period of metro line 1 in order to encourage people to use it.

On February 25th, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Office announced that it had conveyed the conclusions of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Phan Van Mai, at the first meeting of the Standing Committee of the City's Key Projects Steering Committee.

Accordingly, Mr. Phan Van Mai (Head of the Steering Committee) assigned departments, agencies, localities, and investors to carry out a number of specific tasks to accelerate the progress of key projects and works.

Regarding the Ring Road 2 construction project (sections 1 and 2), the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee instructed the Thu Duc City People's Committee to urgently develop a specific plan, conduct an inventory to accurately determine compensation costs for land clearance, and focus on completing the process so that construction can begin in 2024.

Regarding the Ring Road 3 construction project, Chairman Phan Van Mai requested that the handover of the construction site be completed in the first quarter of 2024. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment, in coordination with the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works and relevant units, will work with the localities involved regarding the source of sand for embankment and advise the City People's Committee to report and propose to the Prime Minister for direction in resolving the issue.

Regarding the Ring Road 4 construction project, the Department of Transport must urgently finalize the investment plan and advise the City People's Committee on the specific implementation method as a basis for submitting the investment policy to central ministries and agencies in June 2024.

Regarding the Metro Line 1 project (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), the head of the Ho Chi Minh City government has instructed the Urban Railway Management Board to report specifically on the operational and commercial exploitation plan by July.

Regarding the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project, the Department of Planning and Investment proactively worked with the Ministry of Planning and Investment on a report to the inter-ministerial appraisal council to submit to the competent authority for a decision on the investment policy of the project. At the same time, the department proposed to the City People's Committee the method of selecting a domestic investor to implement the project.

Regarding the project to dredge, improve the environment, and build infrastructure for the Xuyen Tam canal (from the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to the Vam Thuat river), the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee instructed the investor to proactively coordinate with the People's Committees of Go Vap and Binh Thanh districts to complete the handover of the construction site in the first quarter (in Go Vap district) and in 2024 (in Binh Thanh district).

Regarding the three gateway hospitals to the city (Cu Chi Regional General Hospital, Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, and Thu Duc Regional General Hospital), Chairman Phan Van Mai instructed the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Civil and Industrial Works (Management Board) to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to urgently expedite the implementation of investment procedures related to the procurement of medical equipment, aiming to bring these hospitals into operation no later than December 2024.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is tasked with guiding and supporting the Management Board and the three gateway hospitals in investing in and purchasing medical equipment, improving infrastructure, etc.
