High achievements in international competitions.

Returning from their intellectual journey at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025 held in China in early August, two 11th-grade students from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Phu Nhan and Hoang Cong Bao Long, excellently won gold and bronze medals respectively.

IOAI is an international intellectual competition featuring the world's most outstanding high school students in the field of artificial intelligence. Participants must go through rounds of competition requiring in-depth knowledge, programming skills, logical thinking, creative problem-solving abilities, and international competition spirit.

Representatives from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted expressed that the achievements of Nguyen Phu Nhan and Hoang Cong Bao Long are not only a well-deserved reward for their persistent efforts and passion for learning, but also a source of pride for the school and their families. They have contributed to affirming the position of Vietnamese students on the global knowledge map.

Previously, at the 2025 European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO) held in Bulgaria, Cap Kim Hoang Bao (a student in class 11A3, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted) also excellently won a bronze medal.

Bao shared: “The results achieved are not only my personal accomplishments but also the guidance and support of my teachers, who ignited my passion for Physics throughout my studies. Thanks to the encouragement of my teachers and the care of my parents, I have been nurtured with a spirit of learning, helping me to dream big, think far ahead, and act responsibly. This has made me understand that I need to strive and work harder in the future.”

Continuing their achievements in international competitions, the past academic year also saw Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet, students of class 12A4, win second prize at the 75th International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEP) in 2025 in the United States; Tran Quang Nhat, a student of class 12A2 at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, along with the two brothers Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Tri Hau, 11th graders from Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, excellently winning gold medals at the second International Mathematical Olympiad held in Turkmenistan.

Notably, at the 25th International Mathematical Olympiad - VIMC 2025, held for the first time in Da Nang, the Vietnamese team won 18 individual awards, including one silver medal and four bronze medals for Da Nang city.

Emphasis should be placed on the selection and training process.

According to Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training, during the past school year, the entire education sector (formerly Da Nang city and Quang Nam province) continued to effectively implement emulation movements; promoted the application of information technology in management and teaching activities; strengthened measures to reduce the rate of weak and dropout students, and increase the rate of good and excellent students; and focused on the selection, training, and development of gifted and talented students at all levels.

From there, teams are selected and formed, then systematically and thoroughly trained to prepare for national competitions. As a result, the quality of education in all subjects and at all levels is maintained; students continue to achieve good results at the city and national levels. In particular, students participating in international competitions achieve high results.

At the National High School Student Excellence Examination for 12th graders organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the achievements of students from the former Da Nang city increased significantly compared to the previous academic year (achieving 70 awards, an increase of 9 awards), including 6 first prizes (an increase of 4 awards), 13 second prizes, 21 third prizes, and 30 consolation prizes; the achievements of students from the former Quang Nam province also increased considerably with a total of 70 awards (an increase of 12 awards), including 2 first prizes, 12 second prizes (an increase of 1 award), 28 third prizes (an increase of 11 awards), and 28 consolation prizes.

At the National Science and Technology Research Competition, all three projects from the education and training sector of Da Nang (formerly) won prizes, including one first prize, one second prize, and one third prize; students from Quang Nam province (formerly) won prizes in two out of three projects, including one second prize and one third prize.

At the National Youth Informatics Competition, all 24 students from the former Da Nang city who participated won prizes (5 first prizes, 1 second prize, 5 third prizes, and 13 consolation prizes); one student won a first prize and one student won a consolation prize at the national level of the UPU International Letter Writing Competition…

“The achievements of these students are not only a source of personal pride, but also a prominent mark of Da Nang's education sector on the international stage, a source of pride for the city's education sector, affirming the quality of training gifted students and the city's focused attention on discovering and nurturing talent. This is a great encouragement for students, teachers, and parents to continue striving towards higher goals in the future,” said Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan.
