On the evening of April 29th, the Criminal Police Department of Soc Trang Provincial Police announced that they had coordinated with other functional forces to dismantle a gambling den, detaining 16 people and seizing over 350 million VND.
The suspects were caught red-handed by the police at the casino.
At approximately 2:30 PM on the same day, the Criminal Police Department of Soc Trang Provincial Police, in coordination with Soc Trang City Police, unexpectedly raided the third floor of a house on 30.4 Street, Ward 3, Soc Trang City, catching several people red-handed gambling with dice for money.
At this point, some people resisted and tried to escape. The task force promptly apprehended 16 people. Items seized at the scene included 2 sets of dice, 19 decks of playing cards, 18 mobile phones, 9 motorbikes, and over 350 million VND in cash.
According to the police, the house had been regularly hosting large-scale gambling activities for a long time, attracting many participants from provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. The incident caused public outrage and disrupted local security and order. Following this, the Soc Trang Provincial Police Directorate directed various forces to develop a plan to dismantle the operation.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Soc Trang Provincial Police is continuing to expand the investigation into the gambling case; at the same time, they are calling on those involved to quickly and proactively surrender to the police to receive leniency from the law.
