Specifically, at the end of the week, the central exchange rate was 25,074 VND/USD, while the reference exchange rate at the Foreign Exchange Management Department (State Bank of Vietnam) was 23,871 VND/USD (buying) - 26,277 VND/USD (selling).

For commercial banks, the listed exchange rate at Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) is 25,720 VND/USD (buying) - 26,110 VND/USD (selling), a decrease of 311 VND in the buying rate and 271 VND in the selling rate. For the international market, the USD Index (DXY), which measures the strength of the USD against other major currencies in the currency basket, reached 97 points. However, the DXY is still heading for a second consecutive week of decline, amid rising geopolitical tensions and policy changes in the US that are shaking investor confidence in the USD.
The US dollar is also under pressure from expectations that the Federal Reserve (FED) will continue to ease monetary policy, along with uncertainties surrounding US tariff policy and trade direction.
Except for the depreciating Chinese Yuan (CNY), the exchange rates of other foreign currencies fluctuated in the opposite direction to the USD. For example, Vietcombank listed the EUR exchange rate at 30,066 VND/EUR (buying) - 31,652 VND/EUR (selling), an increase of 44 VND in the buying rate and 47 VND in the selling rate compared to the end of last week. Meanwhile, Vietcombank listed the British Pound (GBP) at 34,680 VND/GBP (buying) - 36,153 VND/GBP (selling), a sharp increase of 178 VND in the buying rate and 186 VND in the selling rate.
The CNY exchange rate listed at Vietcombank is 3,634 VND/CNY (buying) - 3,789 VND/CNY (selling), a decrease of 38 VND in the buying rate and 39 VND in the selling rate. BIDV's rate is 3,676 VND/CNY (buying) - 3,794 VND/CNY (selling), a decrease of 40 VND in the buying rate and 32 VND in the selling rate.
According to experts, the influx of remittances is contributing to the cooling down of the USD exchange rate, along with other factors supporting the VND domestically, while the international trend of the USD may slow down.
