The U.21 PVF-CAND team is participating in this year's national U.21 championship with a very young squad, including nine players who are only 16 years old. Notably, these players made a strong impression when they brilliantly defeated the U.16 Manchester City team (England) and Aspire Academy (Qatar) at the Future Star football tournament held in Shanghai (China) not long ago. In the opening match of the 2023 national U.21 championship finals, coach Nguyen Duy Dong fielded a starting lineup with six players from the team that defeated the Manchester City youth team, while Thai Ba Dat, a member of the U.23 Vietnam team that won the 2023 Southeast Asian Championship, was kept on the bench. Le Phat, Quang Anh, Gia Hung, Gia Huy… despite being younger than the U.21 Thanh Hoa players (born in 2003, 2004), played fairly and with great dedication.

U.21 PVF-CAND shocked the home team by launching an all-out attack from the start. A clumsy own goal by a U.21 Thanh Hoa defender gave the visitors the lead. The team, led by coach Nguyen Duy Dong, played very well, causing numerous difficulties for their opponents. The match was exciting when U.21 Thanh Hoa equalized 1-1 in the 18th minute through Le Van Cuong, but the U.21 PVF-CAND players played exceptionally well, with Tran Vu Ngoc Tai securing a 2-1 victory for the visitors in the 80th minute. Although he didn't score, Le Phat of U.21 PVF-CAND made a strong impression and was voted Man of the Match.
In the other match of Group A on the same afternoon, U.21 Viettel easily defeated U.21 Tay Ninh with a resounding 4-0 victory. After the first round of matches, U.21 Viettel leads Group A, U.21 PVF-CAND is second, U.21 Thanh Hoa is third, and U.21 Tay Ninh is last.
