U.21 PVF-CAND participated in the national U.21 tournament this year with a very young squad, including 9 players who were only 16 years old. In particular, these players made a strong impression when they excellently defeated U.16 Man.City (England) and Aspire Academy (Qatar) at the Future Star football tournament held in Shanghai (China) not long ago. In the opening match of the 2023 National U.21 Finals, coach Nguyen Duy Dong launched a starting lineup with 6 players from the force that defeated the Man.City youth team, while the face of U.23 Vietnam who won the Southeast Asian Championship 2023, Thai Ba Dat, was kept on the bench. Le Phat, Quang Anh, Gia Hung, Gia Huy... although younger than the players of the U.21 Thanh Hoa team (born in 2003, 2004), played fairly and with great dedication.
Le Phat (middle) of U.21 PVF-CAND won the title of Best Player of the Match.
U.21 PVF-CAND shocked the home team when they attacked from the start. U.21 Thanh Hoa's defender clumsily kicked an own goal, opening the score for the away team. The team led by coach Nguyen Duy Dong played very neatly, causing many difficulties for the opponent. The match was exciting when U.21 Thanh Hoa equalized 1-1 in the 18th minute thanks to Le Van Cuong, but U.21 PVF-CAND players played extremely well until the 80th minute, when Tran Vu Ngoc Tai sealed the final victory of 2-1 for the away team. Although he did not score, U.21 PVF-CAND player Le Phat made a strong impression and was voted the best player of the match.
In the remaining match of Group A on the same afternoon, U.21 Viettel easily defeated U.21 Tay Ninh with a score of 4-0. After the first round of matches, U.21 Viettel led Group A, U.21 PVF-CAND ranked second, U.21 Thanh Hoa ranked third and U.21 Tay Ninh was last.
