Indonesia U17 suffers heavy defeat against Brazil

Indonesia U17 suffered a 0-4 defeat against Brazil U17 in the group stage of the 2025 U17 World Cup on November 7th.

The difference in class quickly became apparent in the first 45 minutes, with Brazil U17 taking a three-goal lead thanks to goals from Luis Eduardo, Putu Panji, and Felipe Morais.

In the second half, the South American team deliberately slowed down the pace of the game but still maintained complete control, while the Indonesian U17 team tried to find a consolation goal. The Brazilian U17 team added another goal through Ruan Pablo, sealing a 4-0 victory.

This result marks Indonesia U17's second consecutive defeat at the 2025 U17 World Cup. Previously, they lost 1-3 to Zambia U17 in their opening match on November 4th.

In the final round of matches, U17 Indonesia will face U17 Honduras, both teams yet to earn any points in the tournament. Meanwhile, U17 Brazil and U17 Zambia will compete for the top spot in the group.

According to the format, the tournament has 48 teams, with 32 representatives advancing. If they are among the top 8 third-placed teams, the Indonesian U17 team can still advance from the group stage.

This is the second time in history that Indonesian football has participated in the U17 World Cup, after their first appearance in 2023 when they participated as the host nation. Qualifying through the preliminary rounds represents a significant step forward for Indonesian youth football, as they are one of eight Asian representatives in this year's finals.
