After two draws against U17 Australia and U17 Japan , U17 Vietnam entered a decisive match against U17 UAE. To secure a place in the next round and a spot in the 2025 World Cup, coach Cristiano Roland's team had no choice but to win.
The match is expected to be very difficult for Vietnam U17 because UAE U17 is also doing everything to reach the quarterfinals. In their previous match, the West Asian team not only played well offensively but also defended very tightly, thus defeating Australia U17 2-0.
The performance of the UAE U17 team in their victory against Australia U17 shows a significant improvement in both technical skill and fighting spirit compared to their heavy 1-4 defeat against Japan U17 in their opening match. Notably, in terms of tactical formation, the UAE U17 team used a 4-2-3-1 formation against Australia U17, instead of the 5-3-2 formation they used against Japan U17.
Facing Vietnam U17, UAE U17 will likely not push the pace of the game but will instead play cautiously while keeping an eye on the Japan U17 vs Australia U17 match. Theoretically, a draw would be enough for UAE U17 to advance.
Not only do the UAE U17 players have an advantage in terms of physique and stamina, but they are also very technically skilled. Clearly, this is an opponent that Vietnam U17 must prepare thoroughly for in order to devise a suitable strategy.
In the two previous matches, besides improving their technical skills, the Vietnam U17 team also demonstrated unwavering fighting spirit. Before the decisive match against the UAE U17 team, Gia Bao affirmed that he and his teammates would play as if they had nothing to lose, and were confident of winning.
If they don't defeat the UAE U17 team, the two commendable draws against Australia and Japan will lose much of their significance. That's why Coach Cristiano Roland's team will undoubtedly play with 200% effort to win and make their World Cup dream a reality.
Predicted starting lineup for Vietnam U17: Xuan Tin, Viet Anh, Hong Quang, Tan Dung, Viet Long, Van Khanh, Duy Khang, Anh Kiet, Van Duong, Hong Phong, Van Bach.
