Fisherman Hoang Van Dieu, owner of fishing vessel TH93388.TS, which is 30.8m long and has an 800CV engine, specializing in fishing in the fishing grounds of the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, said: “Previously, before the existence of service vessels that purchase seafood, supply fuel and other necessities for fishing vessels at sea, fishing boats had to constantly return to shore, increasing the cost of each trip. Furthermore, the harvested products were difficult to sell at high prices due to long-term preservation, compromising freshness. Now, with service vessels at sea, purchasing seafood every 4-5 days, the quality of the harvested seafood is guaranteed, and the cost of a trip has decreased, allowing us to stay at sea for longer periods with peace of mind.”

The Quan Thuy grilled mackerel processing facility in Nam Vuong village specializes in supplying grilled fish products to markets both within and outside the province. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, owner of the Quan Thuy grilled mackerel facility, said: "Having been in the grilled fish business for over 20 years, I always prioritize trustworthiness. Therefore, I contract to purchase fish such as mackerel, scad, anchovies, and barracuda from service boats and boats that have just returned from fishing, ensuring freshness. The fish are always processed with strict food safety and hygiene standards. Thanks to this, our grilled fish products are always well-received by customers both within and outside the province. Notably, among our grilled fish products, our grilled mackerel has been recognized as an OCOP (One Commune One Product) product."

According to Ms. Thuy, having products certified under the OCOP program has facilitated sales for her business. Through various channels, from direct sales to online sales, the business sells over 200 kg of fish per day. Besides generating hundreds of millions of dong in revenue annually, the business also provides regular employment for four workers, with incomes ranging from 5 to 7 million dong per person per month.

Mr. Ha Van Tung, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the People's Committee of Van Loc Commune, said: The entire commune currently has 440 fishing vessels. Of these, 159 vessels are 12-15 meters long, 160 vessels are over 15 meters long, and the rest are vessels 12 meters or shorter. To facilitate the development of the fishing industry, more than 200 households in the commune have been involved in supporting the fishing industry, mainly purchasing and processing seafood, supplying ice and other necessities. In seafood processing alone, households in the commune consume an average of 6,000-7,000 tons of raw materials per year. This contributes to revenue for fishing households while also creating jobs and income for thousands of workers. At the same time, it contributes to promoting the development of the mining industry, bringing the commune's annual mining output to 26,000 - 27,000 tons/year.

According to Mr. Tung, in order to develop fisheries logistics services and meet the offshore fishing needs of fishermen, in the coming time, in addition to planning the construction of a 20-hectare processing area in Truong Nam village, the locality will develop a fleet of purchasing vessels and at the same time pay attention to supporting processing households that have the potential to develop into enterprises...
