In a conversation with Mr. Vang Van Soi, Secretary of the Party Branch of Phieng Ban village, we learned that: Currently, the village has 40 households and 187 inhabitants, with the Thai ethnic group accounting for 99%. Promoting the "All People Protect National Security" movement and building effective models of mass mobilization in drug prevention and control, the village Party branch has implemented many measures to propagate and encourage people to seriously implement drug prevention and control work in the area.
To prevent drugs from infiltrating the community, the village established a set of regulations, incorporating them into village meetings and Party branch activities. Simultaneously, they propagated and mobilized the people to be vigilant, report crimes, and resolutely fight against drug abuse. The village mobilized various associations and organizations to work together to establish self-governing groups for security and order, regularly participating in security patrols.
With no drug problems, the people of Phiêng Ban village (Lê Lợi commune) can work and produce with peace of mind.
To gain the trust and support of the local people, each Party member in the branch and every influential person always upholds a high sense of responsibility, strictly adhering to the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations; and keeps abreast of the local situation. At the same time, they intensify propaganda efforts to help people understand that poverty and hunger are caused by drugs. Annually, the village organizes for 100% of households to sign a commitment to not trade, use, or illegally possess drugs, building "drug-free families".
Ms. Mao Thi Don (a resident of Phieng Ban village) shared: "Every time the village launches a campaign to sign a commitment to build 'drug-free families,' my family always responds and takes the lead in implementing it. Without drug abuse, we can confidently develop our economy , alleviate poverty, and build increasingly prosperous and happy lives."
Currently, the villagers cultivate 3.2 hectares of upland rice, 14 hectares of corn and cassava, and raise over 300 pigs following a large-scale livestock farming model geared towards market production. Increased production has been boosted, the number of poor households has decreased to only 2, and average income has risen to 39 million VND per person per year. The people are demonstrating a strong commitment to building a green, clean, and beautiful village, and have successfully eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses.
In 2024, Phieng Ban was recognized as a drug-free village. Building on this achievement, Phieng Ban village continues to effectively implement drug crime prevention measures, maintaining its status as a drug-free village, ensuring security and order, and creating favorable conditions for residents to confidently develop their economy.
