Hanoi is striving to improve environmental quality, aiming for a green, clean, beautiful, and sustainably developed capital city. This demonstrates the city's strong determination to effectively and strictly control sources of pollution. The contributions of Front Committee officials at all levels in the city have been significant in this endeavor.

In response to the "National Unity Campaign for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas," the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Hanoi has intensified inspection activities, coordinated efforts, and effectively implemented the "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" emulation movement. These efforts have transformed the appearance of residential areas and contributed to building civilized and modern streets.

Presenting solutions for local environmental protection, Ngo Nguyen Nguyen Hoang, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hang Bai Ward (Hoan Kiem District), said that to build a civilized, green, and clean neighborhood, creating a beautiful urban landscape, Hang Bai Ward launched the "bright - green - clean - beautiful" emulation movement with the goal of raising the sense of responsibility of each citizen in protecting the environment and building a civilized and modern lifestyle.

Specifically, to meet the "bright" criterion, the ward ensures public lighting systems in streets, residential areas, and public spaces; promotes the economical and safe use of electricity among residents, encourages the use of green energy; and encourages the installation of additional lighting in areas lacking adequate lighting. To create a "green" environment, more trees and ornamental plants will be planted in each residential area, agency, school, and public space; residents will be encouraged to care for and protect trees, refraining from cutting or breaking branches; and activities such as "Recycling Saturday" and "Tree Planting Festival" will be organized to improve the living environment. Regarding the "clean" criterion, efforts will be made to maintain street and alley cleanliness, prevent littering, dispose of waste in designated areas, strengthen waste collection and pollution control, reduce the use of plastic bags and plastic waste; and encourage households to sort waste at source and use environmentally friendly products.

In Bac Tu Liem district, the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district recently agreed on a joint plan to organize environmental protection activities. This aims to raise awareness and responsibility among the people. Therefore, in recent times, every Saturday, the wards have simultaneously mobilized officials, members, and the public to actively participate in general environmental sanitation campaigns. Ms. Van Thuy Hoa, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Tu Liem district, stated that the weekly general environmental sanitation campaign on Saturday mornings has received positive support and participation from the people. The implementation shows that "Green Saturday" is not only a general environmental sanitation campaign but, more importantly, has contributed to changing people's awareness and actions in preserving greenery, green spaces, and a clean environment.

With strong determination and commitment to creating breakthroughs in environmental protection, strictly and effectively controlling pollution sources, and promoting a movement of joint action to build a "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" and sustainably developed capital city, the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, Nguyen Lan Huong, stated that the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has effectively participated in the "National Solidarity Campaign to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas". This has contributed to 100% of communes and districts in the city being recognized as achieving new rural area standards. Hanoi also completed its new rural area construction task one year ahead of schedule. Thanks to the successful implementation of the campaign, Hanoi's environment is becoming greener, cleaner, and more beautiful, and the people themselves will be the beneficiaries of these achievements.
