After Hong Kong (China), the Vietnamese team will continue to have more matches with the Syrian team in the friendly match series in June.
The match between Vietnam and Syria will take place at the "fire pan" of Thien Truong, Nam Dinh on June 20.
Syia is currently ranked 90th in the world, 5 places above the Vietnamese team in the FIFA rankings.
Syria also reached the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia like Vietnam. Syria has won 6 points in this qualifying round, with 1 victory over Lebanon and 3 draws against rivals Iraq (2 times) and the UAE.
Syria also showed discomfort when they only lost close to World Cup teams like Iran and South Korea in the first leg of the qualifying round at that time.
Syria's squad has many quality players playing in Europe such as Abdul Weiss, Oliver Kawo, Amma Ramadan, Simon Amin.
Syria is currently led by Hector Cuper, the 65-year-old strategist who has led famous European teams in the past such as Valencia, Inter Milan, Real Betis or Parma.
Before becoming the "captain" of Syria, Mr. Hector Cuper coached the teams of Egypt, Uzbekistan and Congo.

Before the match against Syria, the Vietnamese team will face Hong Kong (China) at Lach Tray Stadium. This is also the debut of coach Philippe Troussier in the national team.
Two matches against Hong Kong and Syria will be an opportunity for Mr. Troussier to test his forces and find players suitable for the tactics he will build in the near future.
These two matches are during FIFA Days, so coach Philippe Troussier can summon names playing abroad such as Quang Hai, Cong Phuong or Van Toan.
