On June 14, in response to a reporter's question about the information that Brazil had officially announced Vietnam as a BRICS partner country, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang emphasized:
" In the spirit of proactively and comprehensively integrating into the international community in a deep, effective manner, Vietnam has made, is making, and will continue to make practical contributions to multilateral mechanisms, organizations, and forums, thereby contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world ."
Along with actively participating in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum, the expanded Group of Seven (G7), the expanded Group of Twenty (G20), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Vietnam has become a BRICS partner country with the desire to contribute to and enhance the voice and role of developing countries, promoting international solidarity and inclusive multilateralism in the spirit of respecting international law.
This also affirms Vietnam's consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism, diversification of foreign relations, being a friend, a reliable partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community .
On June 13, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Vietnam has officially become the 10th partner country of BRICS.
The statement emphasized: “Vietnam shares the BRICS countries’ commitment to building a more inclusive and representative international order. With a population of nearly 100 million and a rapidly developing economy deeply integrated into global value chains, Vietnam is an important player in Asia.”
