On September 12th, the People's Committee of Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province, issued a notice regarding the relocation of the An Binh river ferry terminal in Vinh Long City (also known as the An Binh ferry terminal).
The An Bình ferry terminal is currently in operation.
After a period of construction, the temporary bridge serving the An Binh ferry terminal has been inspected and deemed ready for use.
Therefore, from 8:00 AM on September 15th, the An Binh ferry terminal was relocated to a temporary terminal located in Ward 2, Vinh Long City, approximately 400 meters from the old terminal.
The An Binh side of the river in Long Ho district continues to operate normally at its original location.
The An Binh ferry crosses the Co Chien River, connecting Ward 1 of Vinh Long City with the four island communes of An Binh in Long Ho District. This ferry terminal plays a crucial role in transporting goods and meeting the travel needs of the local people.
In August 2023, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province declared a state of emergency due to the risk of subsidence and landslides along the Co Chien and Long Ho rivers, from An Binh ferry terminal to the Long Ho river embankment.
By the end of 2023, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province approved an emergency project to repair the embankment of the Co Chien River, with a total investment of over 593 billion VND.
