At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 22.2 points to 1,657.46 points. Trading volume reached over 998 million shares, equivalent to over 27,124.2 billion VND. Across the entire exchange, there were 231 gainers, 88 losers, and 51 stocks unchanged.
The HNX-Index rose 4.27 points to 277.28 points, with over 94.2 million shares traded, valued at nearly 2,254 billion VND; 95 stocks increased, 58 decreased, and 57 remained unchanged. Conversely, the UPCOM-Index decreased 0.37 points to 109.65 points, with a trading volume of over 33.6 million shares, valued at over 466.3 billion VND; 148 stocks increased, 87 decreased, and 91 remained unchanged.
The main driving force behind the VN-Index's recovery came from the banking sector, with VPB, TCB, HDB, and VCB making the biggest contributions to the index's rise. Notably, HDB surged to its ceiling price. Conversely, VHM, VIC, BMP, and SJS continued to face selling pressure, hindering the index's gains.
The VN30 basket was almost entirely in the green with 27 stocks rising, only 2 falling, and 1 remaining unchanged. Besides the banking sector, stocks in the securities, oil and gas, telecommunications, and materials sectors also saw gains.
Meanwhile, foreign investors continued their strong net selling. On the HOSE, net selling value exceeded VND 1,524 billion, concentrated in VHM (VND 245.47 billion), SSI (VND 198.34 billion), VPB (VND 123.54 billion), and VCI (VND 104.74 billion). On the HNX, this group net sold over VND 42 billion, mainly in IDC (VND 49.3 billion), PVS (VND 20.19 billion), HUT (VND 9.23 billion), and NTP (VND 9.22 billion).
At the close of trading on September 24th, the stock market witnessed an impressive reversal, with the VN-Index surging more than 22 points, and green dominating many sectors. Banking, securities, along with oil and gas, telecommunications, and materials stocks, became the main drivers helping the market escape its gloomy morning state. However, foreign investors maintained a net selling trend, creating a certain divergence in the overall market picture.
