Starting a business in the middle of the forest.

Amidst the vast acacia forest in Hamlet 1, Nguyen Phich Commune, the sounds of chainsaws and planers echo regularly every day in the small carpentry workshop of Tran Minh Tri, a son who returned to his hometown after more than 10 years of making a living abroad.

Mr. Tran Minh Tri meticulously selects wood to create high-quality products for his customers.

"Nowhere is better than where you were born and raised. No matter where I go or what I do, I always have to return to my hometown because that's where my family is, and where the community spirit is always there to support and help each other," Tri confided.

In 2009, due to difficult living conditions, Mr. Tri and his wife left their hometown and moved to Dong Nai province to start a new life. Working in a small carpentry workshop, he took advantage of every break to learn the trade. Thanks to his diligence, he received thorough instruction from the workshop owner, from simple tasks to complex crafting techniques. After six years of hard work, he had mastered the craft, accumulated capital, and gained experience.

In 2020, he decided to return to his hometown and set up a carpentry workshop amidst his family's acacia forest. Without a sign or advertising, customers sought him out through word-of-mouth. Each product, from tables and chairs to cabinets and beds, is meticulously crafted by him, with carefully selected wood, hand-designed, and finished.

Most of the work in the carpentry workshop is done by Mr. Tran Minh Tri himself; although it takes a lot of time, it produces high-quality products.

"Most of my customers are locals from the surrounding area, and I let those who are struggling pay later. In this profession, you have to think of each other; a life built on kindness and compassion is what makes a business last," he shared.

He handles almost all stages of production himself, with his wife assisting with the lighter tasks. Thanks to his diligence and reputation, his carpentry workshop has grown steadily, providing a stable income and ensuring his children receive a good education.

" "Being able to do the job I love and live among my relatives and family is my greatest happiness," Tri said with a smile.

Bringing policies to every citizen.

Ms. To Thi Mau, Head of the Women's Association in Hamlet 4, shared: "The entire hamlet has 10 households of ethnic minorities, and now only 1 household remains poor, with no near-poor households. This result is thanks to the support of the Party and the State, and the strong will of the people to improve their lives."

A prime example is Mr. Danh Rieng, a veteran from Kien Giang province, who settled in Nguyen Phich commune in 1972. Throughout his life, he worked diligently to raise eight children, always believing: "One must study and earn a living honestly." At the age of 73, he was deeply moved to be living in a spacious house worth over 250 million VND, of which 60 million VND was government assistance, and the rest was contributed by his children and grandchildren.

At the age of 73, Mr. Danh Rieng is still enthusiastically working and producing.

"I thought it was impossible to have a house like this at my age. But thanks to my comrades and the government's support, I have this joy today," he confided.

Nguyen Phich commune currently has many ethnic minority groups living there, such as Tay, Muong, Nung, Thai, Tho, San Diu, etc. Although they differ in customs and traditions, they are all united, closely connected, and working together to develop the economy and build a new life.

Mr. Do Hoang Do, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Phich commune, said: "The locality always prioritizes the full implementation of policies supporting ethnic minorities in housing, land, production capital, etc., to help them have the opportunity to rise up, shorten the development gap, and ensure that no one is left behind."

Danh Riêng's descendants received a full education.

Thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, and the self-reliance and self-improvement spirit of the people, the appearance of Nguyen Phich commune is changing every day. New houses are springing up, small production workshops are operating efficiently, and children of the ethnic minority people are attending school regularly – all evidence of the journey of "will to rise up".

The stories of Mr. Tran Minh Tri, Mr. Danh Rieng, and many other households in Nguyen Phich show that: Although life is still difficult, with willpower, determination, and the support of the government, the path to escaping poverty and becoming wealthy in their homeland is no longer far away. These real-life examples will continue to inspire today's young generation to boldly start businesses, dare to think, dare to act, and take control of their future on their own land.
