Starting a business in the forest
Amidst the vast acacia forest in Hamlet 1, Nguyen Phich Commune, the sound of saws and planers resounds regularly every day in the small carpentry workshop of Mr. Tran Minh Tri, a son who returned to his homeland after more than 10 years of making a living in a foreign land.
Mr. Tran Minh Tri meticulously selects wood to make quality products for customers.
“Nowhere is better than home. No matter where I go or what I do, I always have to return to my hometown, because there are relatives and neighbors who always care for and help each other,” Tri confided.
In 2009, due to difficult life, Tri and his wife left their hometown to start a business in Dong Nai . Working in a small carpentry workshop, he took advantage of every break to learn the trade. Thanks to his diligence, the workshop owner taught him enthusiastically, from simple tasks to complex manufacturing techniques. After 6 years of hard work, he mastered his craft, accumulated capital and experience.
In 2020, he decided to return to his hometown and set up a carpentry workshop in the middle of his family's acacia forest. Without signs or advertisements, customers came to him thanks to "word of mouth reputation". Each product: from tables, chairs to cabinets, beds... was meticulously selected by him, designed and finished by himself.
Most of the steps in the carpentry workshop are done by Mr. Tran Minh Tri. Although it takes a lot of time, it produces quality products.
“Our customers are mainly local people. I will let anyone in need pay later. In this profession, we have to think of each other and live by love to last,” he shared.
He does almost all the production steps, his wife helps with light sewing. Thanks to his diligence and reputation, his carpentry workshop has grown, providing a stable income and his children with a full education.
“ "Being able to do the job I love and live among my relatives is my greatest happiness," Tri smiled.
Bringing policy to every citizen
Ms. To Thi Mau, Head of the Women's Union of Hamlet 4, shared: "The whole hamlet has 10 ethnic minority households, now there is only 1 poor household, no near-poor households. This result is thanks to the support of the Party, the State and the strong will of the people to rise up."
A typical example is Mr. Danh Rieng, a veteran from Kien Giang , who came to settle in Nguyen Phich commune in 1972. Having worked hard all his life, raising 8 children, he always kept in mind: "Must study and do business honestly". At the age of 73, he was moved to live in a spacious house worth more than 250 million VND, of which 60 million VND was supported by the State, the rest was contributed by his children and grandchildren.
At the age of 73, Mr. Danh Rieng is still enthusiastically working and producing.
“I thought I wouldn’t be able to have a house like this at my age. But thanks to my teammates and the government’s care, I have the joy I have today,” he confided.
Nguyen Phich commune currently has many ethnic minorities living there such as Tay, Muong, Nung, Thai, Tho, San Diu... Although different in customs and practices, they are all united, attached, and together develop the economy and build a new life.
Mr. Do Hoang Do, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Phich Commune, said: "The locality always prioritizes the full implementation of policies to support ethnic minorities in terms of housing, land, production capital... to help people have the opportunity to rise up, shorten the development gap, and not leave anyone behind."
Mr. Danh Rieng's children and grandchildren are fully educated.
Thanks to the attention of the Party, the State and the spirit of self-reliance of the people, the appearance of Nguyen Phich commune is changing day by day. New houses are being built, small factories are operating effectively, and local children are going to school regularly - all are proof of the journey of "will to rise up".
The stories of Mr. Tran Minh Tri, Mr. Danh Rieng and many other households in Nguyen Phich show that: Although life is still difficult, with the will, determination and support of the government, the path to escape poverty and get rich in the homeland is not far away. Those real people and real events will continue to inspire today's young generation to boldly start a business, dare to think, dare to do, and take control of the future on their own homeland.
