30km from the center of Ea Kar district, Cu Prong commune is nestled at the foot of the majestic Cu Prong mountain, adjacent to M'Drak district. The entire commune has 12 ethnic groups living together in 9 villages and hamlets, with 1.168 households, 4.987 people, of which 80% are ethnic minorities, mainly northern ethnic groups who migrated to live.
The flat, clean and beautiful concrete road leading to M'um village has just been invested in and built from the capital of the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030 ( referred to as the National Goal Program 1719). Buon M'um, Cu Prong commune has 47 households, 209 people, mainly Ede ethnic group. There is little arable land and unfavorable natural conditions, so the lives of the people of M'um village face many difficulties. The whole village currently has 28 poor households, 9 near-poor households, many households do not have houses, and lack production materials for economic development.
Mr. Y Dem Mlo, head of M'um village, said: M'um village is the furthest area in the commune, deep in the valley, separate from the commune center. Implementing the National Target Program 1719, in 2023, M'um village will have 5 households supported to build houses under Project 1, 11 households will be supported to give birth to cows under Sub-project 2, Project 3. That is the practical support from the State that is the driving force for poor households to rise up, gradually develop economically, and stabilize their lives.
10 years of being married is the same number of years that H'Ren Niê (35 years old) and her husband lived with their parents and children in an old, cramped, inconvenient house on stilts. Ms. H'Ren said: When she got married, her parents also gave her a little land to grow cassava and 1 sao of wet rice land. But the land is bad, the crop yield is not high, the income is unstable, and it is difficult to cover family life, so I never dared to think of having a decent house. Now that the State supports them in building a spacious and sturdy house like this, she and her husband seem to be motivated to try harder, work with peace of mind, focus on economic development, and raise their children's education. kind.

Implementing Project 1, National Target Program 1719, by 2023, the commune will build 36 houses for poor ethnic minority households. Up to now, the houses have been completed and people have put them into use.
Poor communes flourished
Cu Prong is a particularly difficult commune. People's main income depends on agriculture, but there is little productive land and unfavorable farming conditions, so people's lives are still difficult. The rate of poor households is high, the whole commune is currently 23% poor households, 9.4% near-poor households. Capital from projects under the National Target Program 1719 invested in the commune, creating momentum for Cu Prong to improve its appearance and improve people's lives.
Having just received support for cows to reproduce under Subproject 2, Project 3 on supporting production along the value chain, Ms. Hoang Thi Tuyet's family, village 6a, Cu Prong commune, was supported with a cow and a barn. with a budget of more than 21 million VND. Ms. Tuyet shared: My family only has a few acres of sugar cane land, we harvest it once a year, the price is unstable, so we can never escape poverty. The state supports cows to reproduce, builds barns, and commune agricultural officials provide technical guidance on care. That is the premise to create momentum for my family to develop livestock farming and gradually escape poverty.
According to the report, in 2023 the commune will provide cows and support in building barns for 50 poor and near-poor ethnic minority households in 5 villages and hamlets in the area with a budget of 1 billion VND; maintenance of 2 community houses, with a total cost of 650 million VND; 2 traffic projects cost nearly 4 billion VND.
