Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh was honored.

On the morning of March 22nd, outstanding athletes and coaches were honored and awarded prizes in the "Glory of Vietnamese Sports" 2025 program.

Trinh Thu Vinh hopes that more investment will be made in the sport of shooting in 2025.

"I hope to win many medals in 2025, especially at the SEA Games in Thailand, and also aim for an even more successful ASIAD. Shooting is a rather unique sport. I hope the sport receives more investment, and athletes get to compete in more international competitions and gain more experience," Trinh Thu Vinh shared when receiving her award in Hanoi this morning.

Based on the voting results, the "Glory of Vietnamese Sports 2025" program honors outstanding individuals in 2024. The title of Outstanding Athlete of the Year 2024 goes to female shooter Trinh Thu Vinh. In 2024, Thu Vinh won a gold medal at the Asian Championships and finished fourth at the Paris Olympics.

The list of 10 outstanding athletes nationwide in 2024 includes: Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting), Tran Quyet Chien (billiards), Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (volleyball), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton), Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Ha Thi Linh (boxing), Tran Thi Nhi Yen (athletics) and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (archery).

Meanwhile, the title of Outstanding National Disabled Athlete went to weightlifter Le Van Cong. In 2024, he won 1 Paralympic bronze medal; 2 World Cup gold medals and 1 World Cup bronze medal.

The "Glory of Vietnamese Sports" program in 2025 is being organized to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Vietnamese Sports Day.

"The 'Glory of Vietnamese Sports' program is not only a meaningful event to honor and reward outstanding athletes and coaches, but also an opportunity to reflect on the formation and development of Vietnamese sports over the past 79 years," said Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism .

At this year's event, nearly 1,000 delegates, guests, coaches, and athletes participated in a run to support the Olympic Day Run for Public Health at the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.
