The mountainous, border region of Quang Nam province, comprising the districts of Tay Giang and Nam Giang, is home to a large number of ethnic minority groups such as the Co Tu, Ve, and Ta Rieng.

To ensure that the local people have stable housing and can confidently develop their socio -economic lives, for many years, the Party Committee and the Command of the Border Guard of Quang Nam province have directed their units to do a good job of mobilizing cadres and people in the border area to actively respond with the spirit of "everyone contributes what they can, everyone contributes their labor, everyone contributes their resources, everyone contributes what they have, everyone contributes what they have."

The units also advised the Party Committee and the commune government to direct the commune and village-level mass organizations to thoroughly review the area, specifically and in detail, with the requirement of "three no's" (no wrong target group; no omissions; no complaints or petitions).

Perhaps the happiest day in the life of Mr. Hoih Dau, a Co Tu ethnic minority man from Tr'Hy border commune, Tay Giang district, was the inauguration of his family's new house. For decades, Mr. Hoih Dau's family lived in a makeshift house constructed from thatched bamboo and reed walls.

At the end of 2024, with a grant of 50 million VND from the Tr'Hy Border Guard Post, Mr. Hoih Dau's family borrowed more money from relatives and children to build a sturdy house on an area of 180m2, with a corrugated iron roof and tiled floor... Not only did they receive financial support, but Mr. Hoih Dau's family also received labor assistance from officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Post in coordination with local youth union members.

According to Major Trinh Van Duc, Deputy Political Officer of the Tr'Hy Border Guard Station, with the spirit of "fastest, most effective, and most economical," from October 2024 to the present, the unit has mobilized funds from organizations and individuals inside and outside the force to support people in the two communes of A Xan and Tr'Hy in building 6 houses, totaling 300 million VND.

In addition, officers and soldiers contributed hundreds of man-days to help local people build sturdy houses, helping to accelerate the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area and bringing the program to completion ahead of schedule.

With the decisive involvement of the entire political system and the solidarity and support of the local people, from the beginning of 2025 to the present, the Border Guard Posts under the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard Command have provided funding for the construction of 25 new houses, at a rate of 50-100 million VND per house, helping poor households in border areas improve their living conditions. In addition, more than 300 officers and soldiers have contributed 1,767 man-days of labor to house construction…

Each new house completed means that a poor family will have stable housing, thereby feeling secure in their work and production, and striving to escape poverty; further strengthening the confidence of the people in the border regions of our country.
