Cybernews has discovered two Android apps that are seriously exposing user data. The AI Art Generator & Maker video tool has leaked over 1.5 million images and 385,000 videos.
The cause is that the Google Cloud storage was misconfigured, allowing public access. The IDMerit app, developed by Codeway, also leaked customer identity verification (KYC) data.
The leaked information includes full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and personal identification data. Users are at risk of identity theft and bank account hijacking. Google has removed the Video AI Art Generator app from the Play Store, and Codeway has closed access to IDMerit.
Experts advise Android users to only download official apps and enable Play Protect. Readers are invited to watch the following video: Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
