In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, returning to the flood-stricken areas of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces reveals that, although life hasn't returned to normal, the new pace of life in these flood-affected regions has become more bustling and hectic than ever before.
Beautiful homes, full of love and affection.
Not only did the "Quang Trung Campaign," launched by the Prime Minister , help people restore production and get back to their old lives after the floods, but sturdy houses were also built, promptly re-roofed and repainted, bringing new life to the flood-stricken areas.
Filled with joy at having a new home, the small house of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vuong (in Phu Thanh neighborhood, Ham Thang ward, Lam Dong province), built by the Provincial Police, has been filled with cheerful and warm laughter for the past few days. Mr. Vuong said that there is nothing more joyful than receiving government support to build a house after the flood so that he can settle down.

In the Cu Thanh resettlement area, Suoi Hiep commune (Khanh Hoa province), the land that was once a chaotic pile of rubble and smelled of fresh mud after the flood has now been transformed into spacious, clean, and beautiful homes with the fresh scent of new paint. Ms. Ngo Thi Nam (61 years old, residing in the Cu Thanh resettlement area, Suoi Hiep commune) shared that despite the painful losses after the devastating flood, she still smiles brightly because the timely care, support, and sharing from the Party, the State, and generous donors have brought her a new life, a new, sturdy home filled with kindness and happiness.
In her new home, recently built and handed over by the 4th Naval Region during the "Quang Trung Campaign," Mrs. Ngo Thi Nam recounted emotionally: "When the raging floodwaters swept away our gardens and eroded the foundation of our house, my family and I left home in the middle of the night to escape the disaster, filled with uncertainty about where we would go tomorrow and how we would rebuild our lives."
"However, in the midst of the greatest despair, timely support from the State and the hands of the soldiers of the 4th Naval Region wrote a new chapter. With 60 million VND in support and additional borrowed money, I was able to build a 100 m2 house with a mezzanine to protect against floods. Having a new house feels like a dream," Ms. Ngo Thi Nam expressed.
Further north in the Khánh Vĩnh highlands, a joyful atmosphere is also spreading in the new house of Mr. Hà Quyn (in Đá Trắng village, Nam Khánh Vĩnh commune, Khánh Hòa province). Even now, Mr. Quyn still can't believe it: "Just under two months ago, this land was completely swept away by floods, not even the house pillars remained. Now, we have a solid concrete house, and we no longer fear the rain and floods."
The houses with mezzanines that sprang up after the floods are not just blocks of brick, stone, and cement, but symbols of solidarity and brotherly love. For Mrs. Nam, Mr. Ha Quyn, and dozens of other households in the flood-affected areas of Khanh Hoa, this year's Tet (Lunar New Year) is not just the beginning of a new year, but the beginning of a new life in these homes imbued with the spirit of the military and the people.
Major General Tran Minh Trong, Deputy Political Commissar of the 5th Military Region Command, emphasized: During the implementation of the "Quang Trung Campaign," all officers and soldiers of the units strictly adhered to military discipline, state laws, and civilian affairs discipline. The military forces demonstrated a high sense of responsibility; overcoming the sun and rain; working day and night; and operating in three shifts and four teams. To date, the "Quang Trung Campaign," assigned by the Ministry of National Defense and implemented in Khanh Hoa province, has been completed.
Ms. Tran Thu Mai, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa province, said that along with the urgent implementation of the "Quang Trung Campaign," the province mobilized the entire political system to join hands in providing support with the motto "everyone helps with what they can, those with money help with money, those with labor help with labor." Thanks to this, bricks, bags of cement, steel, and the sweat and effort of the people have been used to build sturdy and spacious houses.
The achievements resulting from the collective efforts and support have brought immense joy to the people in the flood-affected areas. A clear example of this is that to date, 100% (89/89) of the collapsed houses have been rebuilt and 100% (290/290) of the damaged houses have been repaired, ahead of schedule, emphasized Ms. Tran Thu Mai.
Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep also affirmed: The completion of housing projects in a short time, ensuring quality and timeliness right before the Lunar New Year and at a time when the whole country is rejoicing at the success of the 14th National Party Congress, makes the program even more politically and socially significant. "A stable home is essential for a prosperous life. I believe that with these sturdy houses, people will feel secure in their work and production, gradually overcoming difficulties and stabilizing their lives."
By the end of 2025, Lam Dong province had completed the repair of 84 out of 84 houses; then continued to complete the construction of 41 out of 41 new houses, exceeding the schedule required by the Prime Minister. This has provided sturdy homes and a secure place to live for the people after the natural disaster. Especially with the Lunar New Year approaching, these new houses will be the foundation for the people to strive for a more stable and prosperous life,” Mr. Hiep emphasized.
Confident in the New Year

In the early days of 2026, many plots of land that had been battered by prolonged floods in Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces are now being replaced by sturdy, spacious, warm, and brightly lit new houses. Kitchens are now filled with warmth and the joyful sounds of laughter and love.
These houses, symbolizing the "descendants of Lac and Hong" lineage, of love and responsibility, not only help people celebrate Tet with peace of mind but also serve as a foundation for them to gradually restore production and stabilize their lives in the long term. Each house built represents a renewed glimmer of hope.
Looking up at their brand-new ceiling, Mr. and Mrs. Ha Quyn (from Da Trang village, Nam Khanh Vinh commune, Khanh Hoa province) expressed: "This spacious three-bedroom house with a mezzanine has been our long-held dream." The new house is now filled with lively chatter and laughter, with everyone lending a hand – some cleaning the floors, others tidying the kitchen – in preparation for Tet (Lunar New Year).
In their newly painted house, Mr. Mai Ngoc Hiep (from Lac Thien 1 village, D'ran commune, Lam Dong province) and his family are preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse with boundless joy. Mr. Hiep excitedly shared that after bidding farewell to a year filled with hardship and loss, his family is deeply grateful to the Party and the State for their timely support and assistance, which enabled them to have this spacious new house. He feels very secure and will soon be able to stabilize their lives and celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year in a warm and fulfilling atmosphere.
As the first family to receive a 60m2 Quang Trung house in the commune, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong's family (in Phu Thai village, Ham Thuan Bac commune, Lam Dong province) is still filled with emotion and joy. He recounted: "Now that we have a house, my wife and I plan to buy some more basic necessities to 'complete' our new home, and focus on increasing production to provide for our children and grandchildren in the future."

Ms. Tran Thi My Le, Chairwoman of the Ham Thuan Bac Commune People's Committee, said that the locality recently organized "zero-cost" markets to support people with necessary items and essential goods to stabilize their lives during Tet (Lunar New Year). In addition, the locality is also mobilizing resources to take care of Tet for people in areas affected by natural disasters. Based on a review and compilation of the list of affected individuals, the locality is striving to provide each household with a gift to encourage them to celebrate Tet.
Major General Tran Minh Trong, Deputy Political Commissar of the 5th Military Region Command, shared that in the early days of the new year 2026, households severely affected by the recent floods will be able to return to live in new homes – warm homes imbued with the solidarity between the military and the people. "We hope that the local authorities will continue to support the people in overcoming difficulties so that they can strive and improve, successfully fulfilling the targets for economic development while ensuring national defense and security in the area."
In the heart of the flood-stricken area, the mud stains were not only covered by the green of hope and the red of homes, but also by the color of the future, as the beloved schools of the flood-affected children were completely renovated, enhancing and rekindling the spirit and atmosphere of learning more intensely than ever before.
