Wood export still faces many challenges

Since the beginning of 2024, the world situation has had many fluctuations, adversely affecting the Vietnamese economy , including import and export activities in general, and wood exports in particular. The US market consumes 50% - 55% of the total value of wooden furniture exported from Vietnam. However, consumers in this country still have to pay bank interest rates of over 7% and cannot easily make decisions to buy a house, shop or replace furniture. In addition, the frequency of lawsuits, investigations and imposition of trade defense measures on wood products originating from Vietnam is increasing, Vietnamese wood enterprises face many risks.

In addition, wood exporting enterprises also have to face new challenges such as: needing to comply with EU regulations on anti-deforestation, accountability of the wood industry to fully implement international commitments such as Lacey (USA), Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism proposed by the European Commission...
