Since the beginning of 2024, the global situation has been volatile, adversely affecting the Vietnamese economy , including import and export activities in general, and wood exports in particular. The US market consumes 50% - 55% of the total value of wood products exported from Vietnam. However, US consumers still face bank interest rates above 7% and cannot easily make decisions about buying houses, shopping, or replacing furniture. In addition, the frequency of lawsuits, investigations, and the imposition of trade defense measures against wood products originating from Vietnam is increasing, posing significant risks to Vietnamese wood businesses.

Furthermore, timber exporting businesses also face new challenges such as: complying with EU regulations on anti-deforestation, accountability in the timber industry to fully implement international commitments such as the Lacey Agreement (USA), and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism proposed by the European Commission…
