At the Mong Cai border gate in Quang Ninh province, the Mong Cai border customs received 68 import and export declarations. At the Bac Luan II bridge border gate in Mong Cai I ward, 75 vehicles carrying over 1,000 tons of import and export goods were cleared through customs.
Immigration and emigration activities also proceeded smoothly, with thousands of people entering and exiting the country, including many tourist groups.
Mr. Vu Van Khanh – Hai Ninh Import-Export Trading and Service Company (Quang Ninh) said: “Today's shipment from our company consists of two truckloads of imported mobile phones, worth approximately 3.3 million USD. The Mong Cai border gate customs, from the procedures department to the border gate personnel, have provided very enthusiastic support, creating favorable conditions for the company to clear customs quickly and meet the deadline at the beginning of the year.”
Not only businesses, but also tourists have expressed satisfaction with the procedures at the border crossing.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Hue, a tourist from Hai Phong City, shared: “I took a two-day trip at the beginning of the year, and I felt very happy when I arrived here. The procedures were handled quickly, efficiently, and professionally. A very smooth start to the new year.”
In Lao Cai, on the first day of the new year 2026, import and export vehicles passing through the Lao Cai international border gate completed customs clearance procedures quickly and efficiently.
Customs forces at border gates implement synchronized and scientific inspection and supervision to ensure safety while facilitating the rapid flow of goods and minimizing waiting times for businesses.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Team, said: "From the very first day of the year, the customs force has fully implemented professional measures to ensure quick and smooth customs clearance. Closely coordinating with other functional forces at the border gate, we have ensured both safety and facilitated the timely delivery of goods. The functional forces at the border gate have coordinated their tasks smoothly, ensuring security and order, controlling the quality of agricultural products, implementing trade regulations, and assisting businesses in resolving procedures, helping import and export goods to be cleared quickly, orderly, and safely."
This is also an opportunity for customs officials to kick off a productive and vibrant year of work, with the expectation of creating a strong breakthrough in import-export value and state budget revenue in 2026. This coordination helps to facilitate customs clearance, creating favorable conditions for businesses to implement their production and business plans right from the first day of the new year.
Mr. Pham Minh Hieu, representative of the Middle East Import-Export Company, said: The company specializes in exporting agricultural products to the Chinese market, such as durian and dragon fruit. From the very first day of the new year, customs clearance procedures have been very smooth, and goods have been exported according to plan. The close coordination of functional forces has helped businesses feel secure in exporting and expect growth of over 10% compared to 2025.
Import and export activities proceeded smoothly. The first export shipment was agricultural products from Hung Phat Import-Export Trading and Service Co., Ltd., consisting of 27.6 tons of rambutan from the southern provinces of Vietnam. Conversely, on the very first day of 2026, a shipment of 25 dump trucks completed customs procedures, bringing in nearly 10 billion VND in state revenue.
