By combining "angry" and "hungry", the word "hangy" was born, meaning frustrated because of hunger. So do you know what "glamping", "cringe", and "freegan" mean?

After many years living and working in the UK, Hoang Ngoc Quynh, a lecturer at Leicester University, shares 10 popular slang words here:

1. Binge-watch (to watch several episodes of a television series or program, one after another): "binge movies"

Have you ever sat or laid down at home for days and watched one episode after another of a show? If so, you're binge-watching! The term has become popular since the advent of paid streaming platforms.

" I spent the whole day yesterday binge-watching an entire season of "Modern Family ."

2. Freegan (someone who rejects consumerism and seeks to help the environment by adopting a sustainable lifestyle, reducing waste...): someone who rejects consumerism and wants to protect the environment.

In the UK, many people want to protect the environment by living a minimalist life, collecting or using discarded food, because they think it can reduce littering. They are called freegans.

" You can call her a freegan. She is anti-capitalist and always finds and eats good food that has been disposed of ."

3. Hangy (becoming angry because you are feeling hungry): Angry because you are hungry.

For example: "I've been fasting since 6 pm last night. I'm not sure if intermittent fasting is good for my body, but honestly, I'm hangry right now and don't want to talk to anyone ."

4. Glamping (A kind of camping that is more luxurious and comfortable than traditional camping): is a combination of "glamorous" and "camping".

5. Staycation (a holiday that someone takes at home or near his/her home rather than traveling to another place): A vacation at home or near home, a combination of "stay" and "vacation".

6. Agender (someone who does not identify as any particular gender): non-gender.

7. Cringe (to feel very embarrassed or disgusted, and often show this feeling in your expression or by making a slight movement): shiver because of discomfort, disgust.

This word means the same as "awesome" but you can add the word "sauce" after it for emphasis. "Awesome" + "sauce" = "Awesomesauce"!

10. Sober-curious (to describe a person who questions their drinking habits and wants to change them for health reasons): begins to wonder about their habit of drinking a lot of alcohol.
