Russian media reported that an explosion occurred at a training facility in the south of the country after soldiers lit a fire near an ammunition depot, killing 12 people and injuring eight others.
"About 20 soldiers lit a fire near an ammunition depot during their lunch break. An RPG-7 grenade landed in the fire and exploded, killing eight soldiers instantly," the Russian news site 161 reported on November 30, citing three sources.
The accident occurred on November 3rd at the Kuzmin military training center in Rostov province. The explosion also injured 12 other soldiers, four of whom died a few days later in the hospital. These soldiers were members of a marine brigade from the Primorsky region.

According to 161, the preliminary cause of the accident was a failure to comply with safety regulations, and the Russian Investigative Committee is looking into the matter. The news site reported that the commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet visited the Kuzmin center after the explosion, but it is unclear whether the visit was related to the accident.
The Russian Ministry of Defense and the Investigative Committee have not commented on the information.
Rostov province is located next to Ukraine, and its capital, Rostov-on-Don, is where the Russian operational command center in Ukraine is situated.
