The 2024 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship ended the group stage with few surprising results. In Group A, Duc Giang Chemical Club ranked third after winning 1 match against Kwai Tsing Club (Hong Kong), losing 2 matches against Kuanysh Club (Kazakhstan), host Nakhon Ratchasima. In Group B, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and LPBank Ninh Binh Club ranked second after winning 2 matches against Monolith Sky Risers Club (Philippines), Saipa Tehran Club (Iran) and losing 1 match against NEC Red Rockets Club (Japan).
Bich Tuyen (red shirt) and LPbank Ninh Binh Club meet their fateful opponent Duc Giang Chemicals in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Asian Club Championship
Unlike last year's tournament, which only had 4 teams in the semi-finals, this year's tournament has teams divided into cross-matches in the quarter-finals. Due to being ranked third in Group A, Duc Giang Chemical Club will face fellow countryman LPBank Ninh Binh (second in Group B) in the second quarter-final match taking place at 1 p.m. tomorrow (September 26).
In the final of the national volleyball championship last year, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and her teammates defeated Duc Giang Chemical Club 3-1, but the two teams played a tight match, chasing each other's scores fiercely. In this rematch, LPBank Ninh Binh Club still kept the core force with players Bich Tuyen, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Dinh Thi Thuy and Thai foreign player Warisara Seetaloped.
Russian foreign player Elena Samoilenko promises to help Duc Giang Chemicals Club create difficulties for LPBank Ninh Binh Club
Meanwhile, Duc Giang Chemical Club has a notable addition in the foreign player position when Elena Samoilenko (Russia) replaces Polina (Azerbaijan). This club also has an advantage over LPBank Ninh Binh when it has another foreign player, Tichaya Boonlert (Thailand), in addition to quality domestic players such as Tran Tu Linh and Bich Thuy. Therefore, it promises to create a "fiery", uncompromising match. Foreign player Elena Samoilenko has only been used since the last match of the group stage, so her physical strength is full, which is expected to cause difficulties for LPBank Ninh Binh. Therefore, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and her teammates must "fight" with a very high determination, in which Bich Tuyen is expected to maintain her form and be the leader in scoring points for her team.
The remaining 3 quarter-final matches of the 2024 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship are as follows: Nakhon Ratchasima vs. Monolith Sky Risers (quarter-final 1), Kuanysh Club vs. Saipa Tehran Club (quarter-final 3), NEC Red Rockets Club vs. Kwai Tsing (Hong Kong) in quarter-final 4. These 3 matches are assessed to have different levels, most likely Nakhon Ratchasima, Kuanysh Club and NEC Red Rockets Club will get tickets to the semi-finals. The winner of the quarter-final match between LPBank Ninh Binh Club and Duc Giang Chemicals will meet the winner of the match between Nakhon Ratchasima Club and Monolith Sky Risers Club.
