20 years of 'Golden Bell of Traditional Music'

The Golden Bell of Traditional Opera competition organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television has kicked off for the 2025 season.

After 20 years of remarkable efforts, the contest has become a prestigious award in the Cai Luong Vong Co village.

Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam won the first Golden Bell of Traditional Music in 2006 and is now a judge of the competition.

Starting in 2006 with the name Ngoi Sao Vong Co Tuong Hinh , the competition has made a strong impression in the theater industry and audiences from the South to the North. Then, in 2007, the competition changed its name to Chuong Vang Vong Co with increasingly high quality. The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Chuong Vang Vong Co , with innovations in the organization, for example, the judges of the selection round are all young artists who have won this award such as: People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh, Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Doi. The final judges are still veteran faces such as: People's Artist Thanh Nam, People's Artist Trong Phuc, People's Artist Phuong Loan. Guest judges include: artists Chi Tam, People's Artist Trong Huu, People's Artist Que Tran, People's Artist Huu Quoc, Meritorious Artist Kim Phuong, Meritorious Artist Kim Tu Long, Meritorious Artist Cam Tien, Meritorious Artist Thoai My.

The rounds have been innovated to make them more attractive and increase the difficulty for the contestants. The sponsor Saigonbank also increased the prizes with the gold medal worth 150 million VND (previously 100 million VND), the silver medal worth 80 million VND (previously 50 million VND), the bronze medal worth 50 million VND (previously 30 million VND). In addition, the contestants can also perform for the people and soldiers in the sea and islands, or perform at universities, on Nguyen Hue walking street (HCMC), creating a beautiful community integration.

Nearly 200 contestants of Golden Bell of Traditional Music 2025 have passed the audition and preliminary rounds, and now 32 contestants have entered the selection round taking place from July 20 to 25, after which 9 contestants will be selected for the final round - broadcast live on September 7, 14, 21, and 28. In addition to the 3 main awards, there will be other awards voted by the press and the audience.
