Việt NamViệt Nam24/09/2024

A town with only one resident, all the people living under one roof, a haunted town, a town named after the most hated man – these are just some of the strange occurrences in small American towns.

Whittier, Alaska

377 residents of Whittier live together in the Begich Towers apartment complex. The complex consists of three interconnected buildings, housing a health clinic, a grocery store, a post office , and a laundry. Having all these amenities under one roof is an advantage, especially during the rainy season and winter.

When visiting Whittie, tourists should explore the glaciers, observe the wildlife, and hike on the beautiful trails. Summer is the best time to visit.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

This is a mountain town with stunning natural beauty and a rich history. Originally called White Oak Flats, it was later named after the town's most hated man, Radford Gatlin. It features a museum of salt and pepper shakers, housing over 20,000 sets of shakers in various materials, shapes, and sizes from around the world . Even more fascinating is the Ripley's Aquarium, home to over 10,000 marine creatures – more than the town's total population. Visit in the fall for beautiful weather and the autumn foliage.

Monowi, Nebraska

According to the 2000 census, the town had only two residents: Elsie Eiler and her husband. In 2004, Rudy passed away, and Elsie became the sole resident of Monowi. She served as mayor, tax collector, office clerk, secretary, and librarian. She also ran Monowi Tavern, the town's only business.

Jerome, Arizona

Built on Cleopatra Hill, this town once boasted numerous taverns, casinos, and brothels. In Jerome, visitors can explore the Nelly Bly Kaleidoscope, the world's largest kaleidoscope dealer, showcasing artwork by 90 artists. Ghosh Town (the ghost town) and the House of the Edge of Time, perched on the hillside, are also worth experiencing. Spring and autumn are ideal times to visit.

Seaside, Florida

Seaside is the perfect seaside retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility. The town's architecture is pastel-colored, and the house fences are white. Interestingly, the town has an Airstream food truck serving residents a variety of delicious dishes. Autumn is the most beautiful season of the year in Seaside.

Hell, Michigan

This is one of the weirdest towns in America. Not only does it have a strange name (Hell means hell), but the town also decorates for Halloween year-round with many spooky word games. The weather is great in the summer, making it a perfect place to visit.

Bisbee, Arizona

If you enjoy eccentricity and exploring unusual places, then Bisbee is the place to go. Here you'll find a winding 7.2km path with 1,000 steps. Every year, Bisbee hosts a climbing competition on these steps. The town also has the Bisbee Inn, a famous location known for its spooky activities. The best weather in Bisbee is spring and fall.
