Eating slowly, chewing thoroughly, avoiding fried and pickled foods, limiting raw and cold foods, drinking water properly, and supplementing with vitamin C... are some tips to help prevent stomach ulcers.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of the Gastroenterology Department at Military Central Hospital 108, peptic ulcers, although common, are preventable. Therefore, adopting a reasonable and scientific diet is essential to protect and improve health, especially to reduce the risk of stomach diseases.

Hygienic eating habits must be ensured.

Wash your hands thoroughly before eating, and eat cooked food and drink boiled water to limit the entry of bacteria that cause gastritis.

Eat slowly, chew thoroughly.

Practice eating slowly and chewing thoroughly to reduce the strain on your stomach's contractions. Minimize eating quickly and swallowing hastily, and avoid eating while working. Try to relax during meals to allow your stomach to function efficiently, helping your body absorb nutrients better.

Eat a balanced diet.

Studies show that eating regularly, on time, and in controlled quantities creates conditioned reflexes, supports digestive gland secretion, and benefits digestion.

It is important to eat three meals a day at regular times, avoiding letting your stomach get too hungry or too full, as this will increase the secretion of stomach acids, affecting digestion.

Eat less fried food.

Fried and stir-fried foods are not easily digested and can put a strain on the digestive system. Eating them in large quantities can lead to high cholesterol levels in the blood, which is detrimental to health.

Eat fewer pickled foods.

Salt-laden pickled foods also put a harder strain on the stomach during digestion. Furthermore, they contain some carcinogenic substances, so consumption should be limited to prevent disease.

Limit raw and cold foods.

Raw and cold foods have a strong irritant effect on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, especially the stomach lining, making them prone to causing diarrhea or gastritis.

Drink water properly.

The best times to drink water are upon waking up in the morning and one hour before meals. Drinking water immediately after meals will distend the stomach, making it more prone to gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Supplement with vitamin C.

Vitamin C has a protective effect on the stomach when consumed within acceptable limits. Maintaining normal levels of vitamin C in gastric juices can enhance stomach function and strengthen its resistance. It is recommended to supplement vitamin C through a daily diet of fresh fruits and vegetables.
