1. Characteristics and uses of hairy fig leaves

The hairy fig tree, also known as the three-colored fig, round fig vine, dog's paw vine, hairy fig, etc., grows wild throughout Vietnam, often seen climbing fences; it is also cultivated as a vegetable, commonly eaten with dog meat dishes.

As a climbing plant, the hairy fig tree has opposite leaves that are ovate or oblong-lanceolate, with a rounded or heart-shaped base, long petioles, and fine hairs on both sides. The flowers are pale purple, with tubular corollas, growing in compound cymes in the leaf axils or at the ends of branches. The fruit is spherical with a glossy yellow-brown calyx.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, plum blossoms have a neutral nature and a bitter-sweet taste; they have the effect of clearing heat, disinfecting, and reducing swelling; they are used to treat jaundice, dysentery, stomach pain, rheumatism, and amenorrhea in women…

In India, people use the leaves of the Tricolor jasmine plant, filtering the juice to drink (with added sugar and ginger) combined with massage; or they use the whole plant to make a decoction to drink instead of tea to treat rheumatism. In the Philippines, folk medicine uses a decoction of Tricolor jasmine leaves to treat kidney stones and urinary retention.

In fact, besides its digestive and anti-dysentery effects, guava leaves can also be used to treat several other ailments.
