Throughout its history, the Party has consistently reformed and rectified itself to meet the demands of the revolution and the aspirations of the nation.
For the past 95 years, the Communist Party of Vietnam has steadfastly led the people through countless challenges. Today, with unwavering political determination and the profound trust of the entire nation, the Party continues to be the leading banner, guiding Vietnam steadily into a new era of national development.
The guiding torch
In the early years of the 20th century, when the country was plunged into a long night of slavery under French colonial rule, our people continuously rose up to fight for independence. However, these patriotic movements successively failed due to the lack of a correct political line and a strong leadership organization.
In that context, the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930, under the leadership of Nguyen Ai Quoc, became a great turning point, meeting the urgent needs of the nation.
From its inception, the Party affirmed its revolutionary and scientific nature, carrying the mission of leading the people in the struggle for independence and freedom, and building a just, democratic, and civilized society. The birth of the Party was not only the culmination of the patriotic spirit and the will for independence of the nation, but also the blending of Marxism-Leninism with the practical realities of the Vietnamese revolution.
The Party's first documents, drafted by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, laid the foundation for the revolutionary path of national liberation, affirming that only by following the proletarian revolutionary path, under the leadership of a new type of political party, could the Vietnamese people regain their independence. This was a historical inevitability, the result of the intersection between the aspiration for national liberation and the advanced revolutionary ideology of the era.
For the past 95 years, the Communist Party of Vietnam has continuously renewed and innovated to meet the demands of each revolutionary period. From the early days of facing the brutal repression of French colonialism, the Party quickly formulated a correct strategic line, combining national liberation with social revolution. In particular, the establishment of the Viet Minh Front united the strength of the entire nation, creating the foundation for the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, freeing the nation from slavery and leading it towards building a people's government.
After the August Revolution, our country faced countless difficulties – from famine and illiteracy to the threat from foreign invaders. President Ho Chi Minh's calls to "eradicate famine, illiteracy, and foreign invaders" demonstrated the Party's strategic vision in mobilizing the strength of the entire nation. Through skillfully combining people's war and diplomacy , the Party led the nation to great victories in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign of 1954 and the Great Spring Victory of 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country.

Entering a new era, the Party continues to lead the country towards digital transformation, innovation, and sustainable development... Innovation and creativity
After the reunification of the country, our Party continued to lead the people in overcoming the difficulties of the post-war period and prolonged socio-economic crises.
The Sixth National Congress of the Party in 1986 marked a historical turning point when the Party boldly reformed its thinking, abandoning the bureaucratic, centrally planned, and subsidized economic model and shifting to a socialist-oriented market economy. The Doi Moi (Renovation) process not only brought about outstanding economic achievements but also led to Vietnam's deep integration with the region and the world, enhancing the nation's position on the international stage.
From its role as the organizer and leader of the national liberation movement, our Party has matured to become the leader in building and defending the Fatherland in the era of integration. The context of globalization and the strong development of science and technology opens up a period of development full of potential but also not without challenges. The Party has clearly defined strategic directions to lead the country in the new era, an era in which Vietnam affirms its position on the international stage.
First and foremost, the Party identifies sustainable development as the central focus of all policies. This is not only an economic goal but also a strategic direction for addressing social, environmental, and cultural issues. In the new era, Vietnam faces challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and the need to improve the quality of life for its people. In response to these challenges, the Party has proposed a series of solutions, including promoting a circular economy, developing green industries, and building smart cities.
In its vision for 2045 – marking the 100th anniversary of the nation's founding – the Party is committed to transforming Vietnam into a developed, high-income country where all citizens have access to modern services and live in a sustainable environment. This commitment reflects the Party's high sense of responsibility in fulfilling the people's expectations.
One of the breakthroughs emphasized by the Party is digital transformation and the application of science and technology to all aspects of life. This is not only a global trend but also an opportunity for Vietnam to narrow the gap with developed countries.
The Party has set the goal of building a digital government, a digital economy, and a digital society, viewing this as the key to enhancing national competitiveness. Meanwhile, programs to develop artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain technology are the main drivers for modernizing the economy. The Party affirms that all technological innovations must be implemented on a foundation that benefits people and serves the public.
Focus on building and rectifying the Party.
The Communist Party of Vietnam continuously focuses on Party building and rectification, as well as restructuring the state apparatus, to meet the development requirements of the new era.
Deeply aware that improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management is fundamental to strengthening the people's trust, the Party has issued many important resolutions, such as Resolution 18/2017 on continuing to innovate and reorganize the organizational structure of the political system to be streamlined, effective, and efficient. The goal is not only to reduce the number but also to improve the quality of cadres and civil servants; to review functions and tasks, and eliminate overlapping positions and unnecessary roles.
Administrative reform is a key focus emphasized by the Party, with solutions such as: modernizing management, simplifying administrative procedures, developing online public services, and building a digital government. This creates favorable conditions for citizens and businesses, and enhances national competitiveness.
The fight against corruption has also been vigorously implemented, with the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions," demonstrating the determination to purify the leadership apparatus and meet the people's expectations for an honest and transparent government. Simultaneously, the Party focuses on training and nurturing young cadres with competence, political acumen, and impeccable ethics, creating conditions for them to participate in leadership positions, contributing to ensuring continuity and innovation in the management system.
Beyond focusing on internal affairs, the Party places particular emphasis on promoting national unity. The people are the center and the subject of all policies, and this has become the guiding principle in the Party's leadership. Gathering strength from all social strata, arousing the patriotism, creativity, and dedication of the people, is a powerful intrinsic resource for the country's progress. In addition to providing direction, the Party is also a partner with the people, listening, absorbing, and adjusting policies to meet the aspirations of the entire population.
Over the past 95 years, the Communist Party of Vietnam has continuously renewed and innovated to meet the requirements of each revolutionary period.
Integration is a key strategy.
Identifying deep international integration as a key strategy, the Party affirms that Vietnam will continue to be an active and responsible member of the international community, contributing to global peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
The new generation of free trade agreements signed by Vietnam opens up opportunities for economic development, helping to enhance the country's position and prestige on the international stage. Integration not only has economic significance but also provides an opportunity for Vietnam to convey its cultural values and national identity to the world, affirming its role in the global community.
