According to the latest report from the Global Payroll Association (GPA), the world's 100 richest billionaires have a combined net worth of over $5 trillion, with only 15 women on the list.
GPA analyzed data on the personal wealth of the world's 100 richest billionaires. American billionaires hold $2.5 trillion, followed by France ($463 billion), India ($359 billion), China ($258 billion), and Russia ($176 billion). The United Kingdom is not included in the list as it has no billionaires among the world's 100 richest people.
Technology is the wealthiest sector, generating $1.5 trillion. Six out of the ten richest billionaires in the world amassed their fortunes from technology companies. This is followed by fashion and retail ($944 billion), and finance and investment ($643 billion).
There is a huge gender gap among billionaires. Women make up 15 names on the list of the 100 richest people.
Francoise Bettencourt, granddaughter of Eugène Schueller, the founder of L'Oréal, is the richest woman on the list, appearing at number 15 with a personal fortune of $99.5 billion.
Francoise Bettencourt, born in 1953, is a French businesswoman, philanthropist, writer, and billionaire heiress. She is the granddaughter of Eugène Schueller, the founder of L'Oréal, one of the world's largest cosmetics companies.

Next is Alice Walton from the United States, with a net worth of $72.3 billion, primarily earned through the American multinational retail chain Walmart.
Third on the list is Julia Koch, who inherited a stake in Koch Industries from her late husband in 2019. Her net worth is $64.3 billion.
Jacqueline Mars ranks fourth with a net worth of $38.5 billion, due to her ownership of one-third of the Mars confectionery and food manufacturing company.
Next is MacKenzie Scott with a net worth of $35.6 billion. Scott is the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and received a 4% stake in Amazon after their 2019 divorce.
In total, the 15 female billionaires on the list have a combined net worth of $587 billion. The average net worth of the male billionaires in the top 100 is $52.2 billion, compared to $39.1 billion for the female billionaires.
The world's richest person is French businessman Bernard Arnault, founder, chairman, and CEO of LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods company. His total personal wealth amounts to $233 billion.
Elon Musk is the second richest person with a net worth of $195 billion, while other tech founders such as Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), and Larry Ellison (Oracle) have net worths of $194 billion, $177 billion, and $141 billion, respectively.
Warren Buffett ranks sixth with a net worth of $133 billion, followed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ($128 billion), former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer ($121 billion), Indian entrepreneur Mukesh Ambani ($116 billion), and Google co-founder Larry Page ($114 billion).
Melanie Pizzey, CEO and founder of GPA, noted a significant gender gap on the list of the world's richest billionaires, with only 15 women compared to 85 men. These female billionaires mostly acquired their wealth through inheritance or marriage. Self-made female billionaires have not yet amassed enough wealth to appear on this list.
Melanie Pizzey argues that it's not that women lack skills, ideas, or work ethic compared to men, so there must be other forces driving the development of female entrepreneurs.
