| The Youth Union of Company 3, Battalion 17, Division 395 (Military Region 3) organized a "Birthday Celebration for a Comrade" for new recruits. |
When the beautiful birthday cake and the fresh flowers arranged by the soldiers themselves were brought out, the voice of the Youth Union Secretary rang out: “Comrades! Close your eyes! Make a wish! Blow out the candles! One, two, three…”. Following the shout, the candles flickered, and countless beautiful wishes were expressed. The happy smiles of the soldiers celebrating their birthdays were met with resounding applause. Everyone was excited and moved, singing the “Happy Birthday” song.
The atmosphere at the "Comrade's Birthday" evening was even more lively and joyful as the unit interspersed the event with homegrown musical performances, folk games, and conversations with new recruits who shared the same birthday in the first quarter. The evening revolved around stories of memories, beautiful moments of camaraderie, the awkwardness, difficulties, and hardships of their first days in the military, friendship, and love of life... The soldiers' faces, tanned by the sun and wind of the training ground, radiated health, radiance, and happiness when they stepped onto the stage under the colorful lights.
Soldier Ly Van Dat, a Dao ethnic minority, shared: “I was very surprised and happy because this is the first time I’ve celebrated my birthday with my comrades. Before enlisting, I thought the military environment would be dry, heavy with orders and discipline. But now, my thinking has changed. This is a beautiful memory for me in the military. I will give this meaningful birthday gift to my wife and daughter when I get leave.”
After sharing a moment of joy with the new recruits, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Do, Political Officer of Battalion 17, shared: “Celebrating comrades' birthdays has become a regular activity in the unit for many years. The unit usually assigns the Youth Union to organize it on holidays, anniversaries, and special events in the month or quarter. This is an indispensable 'spiritual nourishment' for officers and soldiers. This activity not only creates a beneficial and meaningful playground but also helps new recruits forget the fatigue after days of hard study and training, thereby creating motivation for each young person to always strive to excellently complete all tasks. Through this activity, the Party Committee and unit commanders also understand and share the thoughts, feelings, difficulties, and problems of the soldiers to improve the quality of management, education, training, and motivation of the troops.”
Witnessing the "Comrade's Birthday Celebration" evening, we realized that this was not only an occasion for officers and soldiers to share the joy of their birthdays, but also a demonstration of the care and concern of the unit's officers and commanders; at the same time, it helped strengthen camaraderie, contributing to enhancing solidarity and determination to successfully complete the unit's common mission.
