Currently, the province has four social assistance facilities that are caring for and nurturing many orphaned, abandoned, or disadvantaged children. Here, the children are not only provided with adequate living and learning conditions but also grow up in a loving environment under a warm shared roof.
The province currently has 4 social assistance facilities caring for nearly 180 vulnerable individuals, including 89 orphaned or homeless children. Recognizing that caring for disadvantaged children is a top priority, state management of these facilities has been consistently emphasized.

Mr. Phan Lac Hoai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, said: The Department has coordinated with relevant sectors to regularly inspect and guide social assistance facilities to effectively carry out the work of caring for and nurturing children and social protection beneficiaries. Besides resources from the budget, the department also actively connects with organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists to mobilize social resources, contributing to better care for the material and spiritual lives of children and vulnerable groups.
Thanks to this close supervision, 100% of children of school age and in good health at these facilities attend school. They are provided with all necessary books and school supplies and their education is closely monitored. In addition, the facilities innovate their care methods through life skills, ethics, and self-protection classes. The children also participate in cultural, artistic, and sports activities, as well as regular group activities. These activities help them confidently integrate into the community.
Furthermore, healthcare and proper nutrition for children are top priorities for these facilities. Specifically, they regularly collaborate with health authorities to organize periodic health check-ups and monitor children's nutritional status and physical development. As a result, 100% of children at these facilities have complete health records and receive at least one annual health check-up; newborns, children with disabilities, or those who are sick receive individual care and appropriate nutrition.
Vu Hong Son (12 years old), currently living at the Provincial Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, emotionally shared: "I am an orphan, having lost both my parents. I came here in the 4th grade. In the beginning, I missed home very much, but thanks to the dedicated care of the staff, I have gotten used to my new life. Here, I get to eat well, go to school, and play with my friends. This place is truly my second home, and I feel very happy."
These facilities are not only places of refuge and happiness for children, but also places where happiness is sown for social workers. For them, witnessing the children's growth, accompanying them, and following their development every day is a great joy. Their work is not simply about caring for their daily needs, but also about sharing and loving orphaned and abandoned children as if they were their own children and grandchildren.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Chat, Director of the Lang Son Hope Center and the Loc Binh Hope Center, said: Currently, the center is caring for and nurturing 56 orphaned children and children with particularly difficult circumstances, aged from 7 to 19. Many children were shy and self-conscious when they first arrived, but after living in a loving environment for a while, they gradually became more confident, well-behaved, and made significant progress in their studies. For us, the greatest happiness is being able to accompany and witness the changes and growth of these children every day. Every smile, every step forward of the children is a motivation for us to stay committed to this work and continue to share and love them as if they were our own children.
Thanks to the efforts of the staff, social assistance facilities have also received attention and support from many organizations, individuals, and philanthropists over the years. Many programs involving visits, gift-giving, scholarships, support with school supplies, and organizing recreational and social activities for children have been regularly maintained.
Social welfare facilities are not only places that care for and nurture children with special circumstances, but also a connecting point for compassionate hearts in the community. Under this shared roof, happiness is created from the care and sharing that many people dedicate to those less fortunate.
In the coming time, with the attention of all levels and sectors and the joint efforts of the community, social assistance facilities in the province will continue to improve the quality of care and nurturing for children and other socially vulnerable groups. This will contribute to providing children with a safe and warm living environment, allowing them to study, train, and grow steadily on their journey to adulthood.
