• Upholding the tradition of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers," looking towards a term of innovation and development.
  • Upholding the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers," Ganh Hao commune is being built into an increasingly developed area.
  • Promoting the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the emulation movement of Cluster No. 1

The story of the group of veterans from Ta An Khuong Commune, led by Mr. Nguyen Huu Thach, is inspiring. Despite being in their seventies, the veterans in the group still work with their comrades and neighbors to repair roads, run free shops, give gifts, visit the sick, and provide acupressure treatment.

With the spirit of the soldiers of Uncle Ho's army , veterans joined hands to form the Nhat Tam Thien Nguyen group. Without fundraising or appeals, on the 15th and 30th of each lunar month, members use their personal money to buy food and prepare vegetarian meals and noodles to distribute to the poor.

Vegetarian meals were distributed directly to people in need with utmost respect.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thach said: “With a heart for sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves, the group voluntarily contributed labor and capital to this initiative. Initially, there were only over 20 members, but now there are more than 100. We don't solicit or receive sponsorships; we contribute 3-5 million VND each month ourselves. Besides distributing meals, we also visit families in need and those suffering from illness.”

True to its name, Nhat Tam Thien Nguyen (One Heart, One Mind Volunteer) sees this as a common home, united in building a bridge of compassion to those in difficult and unfortunate circumstances.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, a member of the Nhat Tam Thien Nguyen group, shared : I admire these veterans. They participated in the resistance war, and even in civilian life, they don't rest but continue to participate in building and developing the local area. I am very proud to be working alongside them, learning from them and following their example in these meaningful endeavors.

Mr. Thach and the veterans and volunteer group also have a very different approach to their work. The members always advise people to queue in an orderly manner so as not to disturb other people. They are no longer people coming to beg or wait for meals to ease their hunger or the hardships of a hard day, but rather they have become valued and welcomed guests.

The "zero-cost" store for the needy is always open for those who need clothes to come and choose.

Ms. Ngo Thi Nuong, from Tan Duc hamlet, Ta An Khuong commune, who has received vegetarian meals and assistance from veterans many times, said: "On the 15th and 30th of the lunar month, many people in need come to receive vegetarian meals. I've been to many places, but I see that the veterans here treat the recipients very well."

Not only that, the veterans also joined the local community in repairing roads. Undeterred by the weather, the veterans pushed wheelbarrows, carried materials, mixed mortar, and carefully filled every pothole and bump on the road surface, so that people could travel more conveniently and students could happily go to school.

Mr. Huynh Dung Chinh, a veteran from Tan Loi A hamlet, Ta An Khuong commune, shared : " Most of the branch's members are 70 years old or older, so they do what they can, trying to do whatever benefits the country and the people. "

Everyone did their part to ensure that the road and bridge sections were repaired as quickly and durably as possible, so that people could travel safely.

"For comrades who are sick or facing difficulties, we help them according to our current resources. Those who are healthy encourage each other to do useful work. Veterans, in particular, strive to encourage the people and villages to unite, help each other reduce poverty, and build their homeland," veteran Huynh Dung Chinh shared.

Despite their advanced age, veterans in Ca Mau are continuing to write a beautiful story about the spirit of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in peacetime. They not only repair village roads but also cultivate human kindness and community responsibility, becoming shining examples for the younger generation to follow.
