An Cư commune, with a large Khmer population, has 7,315 households and nearly 40,000 inhabitants, of which the Khmer people account for over 69.6%. The people mainly live on farming and livestock raising. Currently, the commune still has 240 poor households and 50 near-poor households that need sharing and support from the community.
Playing a pivotal role in mobilizing all strata of the people, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Cu commune closely coordinates with local authorities and philanthropists to implement many practical social welfare activities. These efforts not only help people stabilize their immediate lives but also strengthen national unity at the grassroots level, creating a solid foundation for sustainable local socio -economic development.

Seeing the difficult circumstances of Ms. Néang Kêu's family in An Cư commune, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune provided support in building a solidarity house and 60 million VND to help her start a small business and raise livestock. "Thanks to this capital, my family's life has improved and we are moving out of poverty. My family is grateful to the local government and Fatherland Front for their care, support, and assistance over the past time," Ms. Néang Kêu shared.
According to Chau Phi Rom, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Cu commune, from the merger until May 2026, the commune's Fatherland Front received nearly 13 billion VND from organizations and individuals. From this fund, the commune distributed 22,642 gifts to poor and near-poor households and families entitled to preferential policies, totaling over 7 billion VND. During the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay festival of the Khmer people, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune organizes gift-giving for elderly people living alone and poor households, ensuring that all citizens can celebrate the festival joyfully and warmly.
The policy of supporting housing construction is seen as a leverage to help people settle down and make a living. An Cu commune mobilized resources to build and repair 158 solidarity houses for disadvantaged households, with a total cost of over 6.5 billion VND. Implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses," the commune handed over 45 houses to eligible beneficiaries.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Cu commune is promoting the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas," encouraging people to actively support each other in economic development. Mr. Bui Van Tam, a resident of An Cu commune, said that his family used to face many difficulties, mainly earning a living through hired labor. With support from the Fatherland Front and local authorities in building a house and providing loans, Mr. Tam diligently worked to develop his family's economy by repairing motorbikes and selling soft drinks at home. "Currently, my family has built a new house, has a stable income, and can afford to provide for our children's education," Mr. Tam happily said.
To improve the lives of the people, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Cu commune continues to mobilize businesses and philanthropists to effectively carry out social welfare work, implement livelihood support programs, create jobs, transfer science and technology, provide preferential loans, and supply crops and livestock to help people develop production.
