From Khanh Binh National Border Gate to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) it takes only about 80km. To maximize that potential and advantage, the province has received attention from the Government for investment in the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project connecting with Tran De International Seaport (Soc Trang province), National Highway N1 and Chau Doc Bridge (connecting with Dong Thap and Kien Giang provinces). Long Xuyen City is more than 40km from Can Tho airport. My Thoi Port belongs to the national seaport system, which can receive ships with a tonnage of up to 10,000 tons.

With that condition, An Giang is the central locality of 3 major cities: Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho - Phnom Penh. In the coming period, we will continue to invest in connecting sections of the expressway to Tinh Bien and Khanh Binh border gates, connecting with Vinh Xuong international border gate, combining with intra-provincial routes along vertical and horizontal axes, creating a seamless and smooth traffic network to industrial zones, clusters, tourist areas, urban areas, trade, services, river ports and raw material areas. From there, it will help An Giang expand its space, creating momentum for socio-economic development and advantages in attracting investment.
With persistent efforts, proactiveness, creativity and the will to be self-reliant, the Party Committee and the People of An Giang have achieved great and comprehensive achievements, the economic structure has shifted in a positive direction. In 20 years (2000 - 2020), the economy has maintained an average growth rate of 7.3%/year, higher than the national average (6.4%/year). GRDP per capita increased from 0.65 million VND/year (1990) to 3 million VND/year (1995), 4.5 million VND/year (2000), 15.8 million VND/year (2010), 46.6 million VND/year (2020).
In the period of 2020 - 2025, the province's economy continues to develop with an average GRDP growth rate of 6.13% - 6.42%/year; GRDP per capita is estimated at about 74 - 75 million VND/person/year (2025). The poverty rate is about 1.52%. In 2024, GRDP increased by 7.16%, ranking 5th in the Mekong Delta and 38th in the country. GRDP scale reached 130,135 billion VND, ranking 5th in the Mekong Delta. GRDP per capita reached 66.24 million VND, ranking 12th in the Mekong Delta. In the first quarter of 2025, the province's GRDP growth reached 7.12%.
Identifying transportation as a strategic breakthrough in economic development, the province has focused on investing in many infrastructure construction projects. Notable projects include: Chau Doc Bridge (opened to traffic on April 23, 2024), opening National Highway N1, connecting the horizontal axis of the southwestern provinces located on the border corridor. Long Xuyen City bypass road with an investment capital of VND 2,107 billion (opened to traffic on June 16, 2024), greatly contributing to relieving traffic congestion on National Highway 91, developing and expanding the urban space of Long Xuyen City. Some other key projects include: Project to build a regional connecting road; Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway; expanding and upgrading Provincial Road 949 (Tinh Bien Town, 18.7km long); urgent upgrading and expansion of Provincial Road 948 (connecting Tri Ton - Tinh Bien, 16.3km long) ...
Attract investment
The province has been focusing on developing modern new urban areas, unique eco-tourism areas, along with key infrastructure projects. In particular, the participation of large enterprises and corporations has contributed to promoting the rapid, healthy and sustainable development of An Giang's real estate market.
The province still has a lot of potential to develop tourism into an important economic sector, making the tourism industry contribute more to the budget, economic development, especially spiritual tourism, historical tourism, ecological tourism, river tourism, resorts, entertainment, community tourism, discovery and experience. In addition, the province has many heritages and traditional cultural values that are preserved. In 2024, there will be 9.1 million visitors; in the first quarter of 2025, it will welcome about 4.1 million visitors. The Via Ba Chua Xu Festival in Sam Mountain - An Giang was recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Currently, the province is coordinating to prepare documents and procedures to submit to UNESCO to recognize the Oc Eo - Ba The cultural relic as a world cultural heritage.
T&T Group started construction of the first 5-star hotel in An Giang with a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion VND.
Regarding agricultural economy, the province aims for large-scale development, emission reduction, high-tech application, cost reduction, value enhancement, and orientation to become the center of rice and freshwater aquaculture in the Mekong Delta. In addition to rice, the province effectively exploits the advantages of fresh water resources and soil, develops more key agricultural products of the province (catfish, vegetables and fruit trees), along with potential product groups (livestock and edible mushrooms, medicinal herbs), to supply the food processing industry.
Regarding industrial production, with a favorable geographical location, a synchronous transportation system and abundant labor resources, An Giang is becoming an attractive destination for investors. The province is focusing on developing key industries, such as: Food processing, seafood, mechanics, garment, construction materials, etc. Infrastructure of industrial zones, clusters, and functional areas of economic zones are being invested in and gradually completed to create clean land to attract investment.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the State budget has allocated over 329 billion VND to invest in infrastructure of industrial parks and border economic zones. Currently, the province has 5 planned industrial parks with a total natural land area of 857 hectares. The Prime Minister approved the investment policy for the project to develop infrastructure of Vam Cong industrial park, with a scale of 193 hectares and a total estimated investment capital of 2,200 billion VND.
Regarding import and export, the province is planned into 3 border economic zones, with a total area of over 30,000 hectares, which are multi-sector and multi-sector economic zones. Currently, a number of functional sub-zones have been planned to develop trade - services - logistics and industrial production, ready to welcome investors to explore and exploit.
In 2024, the province has 1,056 newly registered enterprises, an increase of 9.3% over the same period. The total capital invested in the economy in 2024 is 8,113 billion VND. In the first quarter of 2025, 291 enterprises registered for establishment, with a total capital of 1,280 billion VND; 143 enterprises resumed operations; received 9 investment dossiers; submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval of the investment policy and approved the investor of 1 project with a total registered capital of 59.1 billion VND. The above figures show that the investment and business environment in An Giang is improving day by day, and businesses are interested in coming.
The province is completing its development plan, focusing on investing in synchronous technical infrastructure, strongly developing science and technology, and accessing advanced technology. Training and fostering high-quality human resources, promoting improvements in the investment and business environment, and enhancing competitiveness are considered top priorities to achieve the province's socio-economic development plan goals, making An Giang one of the attractive destinations.
