As a centrally administered city in China, along with Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin, Chongqing is one of the four busiest cities in the country of over a billion people.

With its rugged, mountainous terrain, architects and engineers have created unique transportation infrastructure, transforming Chongqing into a place of urban transportation architectural wonders.

Modern and imposing

Chongqing's hilly terrain, limited land resources, and dense population have forced planners to find innovative and unique transportation solutions to connect the areas.

The Chinese government has invested heavily in transportation infrastructure development, aiming to transform the city into a major economic and transportation hub for the region.

Therefore, many modern construction and traffic management technologies have been applied to build and operate the public transportation system. This is also why the mountainous city of Chongqing has magnificent and imposing architectural and transportation structures that leave a strong impression on tourists when they visit.

Chongqing boasts one of the world's largest and most complex subway and elevated railway systems. These lines are built along the hilly terrain, creating spectacular scenery and facilitating easy travel between different areas of the city.

Currently, the urban rail network covers key hubs in Chongqing such as the airport, high-speed train stations, and commercial areas, with peak traffic exceeding 4,000,000 people per day.

The subway system also has stations located 94 meters underground. Chongqing's monorail system is impressive. Small trains run on unique tracks, allowing visitors to explore hidden corners of the city.

Chongqing is also famous for its river cable car system, with numerous branching roads everywhere, and over 13,000 bridges, so you can see bridges everywhere.

The unique features of the cable car system crossing the Yangtze River offer visitors a special experience.

Sitting on the cable car, you'll have the opportunity to admire the magnificent panoramic view of Chongqing city and the Yangtze River from above. The amazing feeling of gazing at the beautiful scenery below will be unforgettable.

Regarding the complexity of the bridge and road system, the Hoang Giac Loan overpass is worth mentioning, considered an architectural marvel upon its completion in 2017. This bridge is divided into five levels, stands 37 meters high (equivalent to a 12-story building), has 20 lanes for traffic in eight directions, and has a total length of 16.4 km.

The aforementioned differences have given Chongqing many unique and attractive features. Chongqing's transportation infrastructure connects it with numerous high-speed rail lines and domestic flights to various cities, making it the largest tourist destination in the world's second-largest economy.

Due to the complex nature of its traffic system, the city government has combined vehicle navigation, drones, satellites, and other methods to improve its surveillance network. Simultaneously, Chongqing utilizes the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, and a range of other technologies to monitor and maintain its infrastructure.

Attractive destination

Chongqing has a climate with four distinct seasons, an average annual temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, cool weather, and fresh air.

Visiting here in spring, you will enjoy the cool air of nature with thousands of flowers blooming along the roads. The weather is warm and pleasant.

Chongqing is quite hot in the summer but has less fog than in the spring, making it ideal for sightseeing.

In autumn, Chongqing dons a new coat of enchanting scenery as the trees change color. From around October to November, you can admire the forests of red leaves and capture many poetic photographs.

Visiting Chongqing in winter, you'll experience a wonderfully romantic, chilly atmosphere. On a cold winter evening, sitting down to enjoy a hot pot meal while gazing at the brightly lit streets and bustling crowds outside is an unparalleled experience. If you want to see snowfall or bathe in hot springs, this is the perfect time to do so.

Ciqikou Ancient Town, located on the outskirts of Chongqing, is a town built during the Song Dynasty. Today, it still retains its ancient architecture, creating a timeless beauty that captivates visitors.

Ciqikou Old Town is famous for its antiquity and long history, with cobblestone streets bearing the marks of time. Stepping into the old town, you'll immediately feel the distinctive Chinese atmosphere, from the red lanterns hanging on either side of the street to the old houses with traditional architecture, all creating a nostalgic and ancient Ciqikou.

Furthermore, construction of the Three Gorges Dam began in 1994, making it the world's largest hydroelectric dam. Located on the Yangtze River, the dam is not only a marvel of engineering but also a popular tourist destination.

Measuring 2,335 meters in length and 185 meters in height, the Three Gorges Dam is a symbol of China's industrial and technological development. Visitors certainly shouldn't miss the opportunity to admire this magnificent structure, to witness the combination of nature's power and human ingenuity.

Mr. Pham Luong Bang, a retired teacher in Hanoi who has visited many places in China, said: "If Beijing has a modern, bustling beauty, and Suzhou and Hangzhou have a nostalgic charm, then Chongqing has a harmonious blend of ancient architecture and the modern pace of life. Therefore, no matter what season you visit, you will experience the unique charm that only Chongqing possesses."

Visiting Chongqing gives you the feeling of immersing yourself in the vibrant life and discovering its unique culture and cuisine. If you are a passionate explorer, this is the place for you.
