As a city directly under the central government of China, along with Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, Chongqing is one of the four busiest cities in the country of a billion people.

With rugged mountainous terrain, architects and engineers have created unique traffic structures, turning Chongqing into a place of urban traffic architectural wonders.

Modern and stately

Chongqing's mountainous terrain, limited land and dense population have forced planners to find innovative and different transportation solutions to connect the regions.

The Chinese government has invested heavily in developing transport infrastructure, aiming to turn the city into an important economic and transport hub of the region.

Therefore, many modern construction and traffic management technologies have been applied to build and operate the public transport system. That is also the reason why the mountainous city of Chongqing has magnificent and impressive architectural and traffic works that leave a strong impression on visitors when they come to visit.

Chongqing has one of the largest and most complex subway and elevated railway systems in the world. These lines are built along the mountainous terrain, creating spectacular views and allowing people to move easily between areas of the city.

Currently, the urban railway network covers important nodes in Chongqing such as airports, high-speed train stations, and commercial areas, with the highest traffic volume reaching more than 4,000,000 people/day.

The metro system has stations as deep as 94 meters underground. Chongqing's monorail system is impressive. The small trains run on unique tracks, taking visitors to explore hidden corners of the city.

Chongqing is also famous for its river cable car transportation, with forked roads everywhere, and more than 13,000 bridges, so you can see bridges everywhere.

The unique feature of the cable car system across the Yangtze River gives visitors a special experience.

Sitting on the cable car, you will have the opportunity to admire the majestic panorama of Chongqing city and the Yangtze River from above. The wonderful feeling of looking at the beautiful scenery below will be unforgettable.

As for the complexity of the road and bridge system, we must mention the Hoang Giac Loan overpass system, which was considered an architectural wonder when completed in 2017. This bridge is divided into five floors, 37m high, equivalent to a 12-storey building, including 20 lanes running in eight directions and has a total length of 16.4km.

The above differences have created many unique and attractive features for Chongqing. The transportation infrastructure in Chongqing is connected with many high-speed train lines and many domestic flights to different cities, making it the largest tourist city in the world's second largest economy.

Due to the complex nature of traffic, the city government has combined vehicle navigation, drones, and satellites, among other methods, to improve its surveillance network. At the same time, Chongqing uses the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, and a host of other technologies to monitor and maintain infrastructure projects.

Attractive destination

Chongqing has four distinct seasons, the average annual temperature is about 18 degrees Celsius, the weather is cool, the air is fresh.

Come here in spring, you will enjoy the cool air of nature with thousands of flowers blooming all over the roads. The weather is warm and pleasant.

Chongqing in the summer is quite hot but less foggy than in the spring, favorable for sightseeing activities.

In autumn, Chongqing puts on a new coat with a gentle and beautiful landscape when entering the season of changing leaves. From October to November, you will be able to admire the red leaf forests and freely capture poetic photos.

Coming to Chongqing in winter, you will feel the cool and romantic atmosphere. On a cold winter evening, there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting and eating hot pot and watching the colorful streets and bustling people outside. If you want to watch the snow fall or bathe in hot springs, this is the right time to experience it.

Ciqikou Ancient Town, located in the suburbs of Chongqing, is a town that was built during the Song Dynasty. Today, this place still retains its ancient architecture, creating a timeless beauty that captivates visitors.

Ciqikou Old Street is famous for its antiquity and long history, with stone-paved slopes bearing the mark of time. Entering the old street, you will immediately feel the typical Chinese atmosphere, from the red lanterns hanging on both sides of the street, to the old houses with traditional architecture, all together creating a nostalgic and ancient Ciqikou.

Additionally, construction began in 1994 and the Three Gorges Dam is currently the world's largest hydroelectric dam. Located on the Yangtze River, the dam is not only an engineering marvel but also a popular tourist destination.

With a length of 2,335 meters and a height of 185 meters, the Three Gorges Dam is a symbol of China's industrial and technical development. Visitors certainly cannot miss the opportunity to admire this great work, to see the combination of natural power and human creativity.

Mr. Pham Luong Bang, a retired teacher in Hanoi who has visited many places in China, said: “If Beijing has a modern, bustling beauty, Suzhou - Hangzhou has a nostalgic nuance, then Chongqing has a harmonious combination of ancient architecture and modern human life. Therefore, coming here in any season, you can experience the poetry that only Chongqing has.”

Visiting Chongqing gives you the feeling of being immersed in the bustling life and discovering extremely unique culture and cuisine. If you are a passionate explorer, this is the place for you.
