To make OCOP products strong brands.

Thanh Hoa is one of the leading localities nationwide in terms of the number of OCOP products, with many products highly appreciated by the market and consumers. However, there are still OCOP products that only receive certification and have not yet met the conditions to become strong brands and gain the full trust of consumers.

To make OCOP products strong brands.

The province's OCOP products are being displayed and promoted to boost sales in the market.

After nearly eight years of implementation, the OCOP program has become a breath of fresh air for the rural economy. From the plains and coastal areas to remote villages in mountainous regions, hundreds of products have been "awakened" to become ambassadors of local brands. As of June 2026, the entire province had 690 OCOP products ranging from 3 to 5 stars. These include the rich flavor of Ba Lang fish sauce, the sweet aroma of Cat Sam herbal tea, the exquisite craftsmanship of Nga Son handicrafts, and the valuable traditional medicines of the Dao and Muong ethnic groups... This diversity not only affirms the potential and advantages of the localities but also demonstrates the strong creativity of the people of Thanh Hoa province.

Many businesses have boldly innovated technology and applied strict food safety standards to achieve high economic value, even exporting officially to international markets. Typical examples of OCOP products from Thanh Hoa province that have established their brand in the market and in the hearts of consumers are the shrimp paste, fish sauce, and other OCOP products of Le Gia Food and Trade Service Co., Ltd., Hoang Thanh commune.

Thanh Hoa: Ready to operate hydropower plants safely during the rainy season and floods. With the rainy and stormy season approaching, in order to proactively operate and regulate reservoirs, calculate and forecast floods, and ensure the safety of the structures and downstream areas in the mountainous communes of Thanh Hoa province, the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa province has proactively implemented disaster prevention and control measures at hydropower projects on rivers within the province.

In reality, many OCOP products from Thanh Hoa are struggling to access larger markets. The gap between a product receiving a "star rating" and a brand that sits in consumers' daily shopping baskets remains quite significant.

At the Eco Lành store in Triệu Sơn commune, hundreds of OCOP products ranging from 3 to 5 stars are available, covering a wide variety of categories such as agricultural products, food, and handicrafts. In addition, the store also displays typical and distinctive products from Thanh Hóa province and OCOP products from other provinces. Most of the products on display have QR codes to connect with customers, introduce and promote the production process, thereby building trust with consumers.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, owner of Eco Lanh store, said: “Although all products are awarded the same OCOP star rating, some products are always sought after by consumers, while others, even after being placed on the shelves, are not chosen. The main reasons are the inconsistency in quality, unattractive packaging and labeling that fail to create a strong visual impression on modern customers, and the producers' poor market skills.”

The limitations that keep OCOP products from Thanh Hoa province "out of touch" with consumers have been frankly pointed out at many conferences at various levels. However, because the province's OCOP businesses are mostly small and micro-sized, they lack the economic resources to invest in the systematic development of their products. At the second OCOP product ranking and evaluation conference in 2026, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Rural Development Program Coordination Office, Nguyen Hong Thai, emphasized that for OCOP products to truly gain a firm foothold in the hearts of consumers, instead of the mindset of "selling whatever is available," businesses and management agencies need to shift to the mindset of "selling what the market needs." At the same time, key solutions were proposed, such as: standardizing quality, investing in modern and convenient packaging design while still preserving the core cultural story of Thanh Hoa's distinctive products; Promoting Thanh Hoa's OCOP products on e-commerce platforms (Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop) and effectively implementing the "Livestream selling" trend will help Thanh Hoa's OCOP products reach consumers directly and quickly...

For OCOP products to become strong brands in the hearts of consumers is a long-term journey. It's not just about relying on government investment; businesses need to actively change their mindset, improve quality, and enhance packaging and design. Simultaneously, they need a suitable strategy for promoting and introducing their products so that consumers are widely aware, experience the products better, and decide to purchase them.
