(NLDO) - Approximately 4,134 households with about 15,101 residents will be affected by the compact urban development project in the Hang Xanh area.

Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII) has just submitted a report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Transport and Public Works on the progress of the TOD urban renovation project in the Hang Xanh area, Binh Thanh district.

Previously, CII proposed the idea of implementing a TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) project to renovate the Hang Xanh area. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned CII to use its own capital to hire consultants to complete the study.

According to CII, surveys and data collection indicate that the project area is estimated to require the acquisition of over 500,000 of land. Of this, residential land accounts for over 282,000 , and land for transportation and green spaces accounts for over 134,000 .

Regarding affected households, the area comprises approximately 4,134 households with about 15,101 residents. Additionally, the area has numerous overhead and underground medium-voltage power lines, as well as many substations and telecommunication cables.

CII has approved the proposal from Arup Vietnam Co., Ltd. to provide conceptual planning services for the Hang Xanh TOD project. The consulting fee is approximately VND 15.3 billion. CII will continue discussions and aim to sign a contract in March 2025 to implement the project.

Simultaneously, CII is working with BR Design Consulting Co., Ltd., VTCO Investment Co., Ltd., and Lap Viet Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company to study the project's technical infrastructure and urban planning in the project area.

According to CII's previous proposal, the scope of the TOD study covers the area from Hang Xanh intersection to Binh Trieu bridge, with a preliminary total investment of approximately 216,000 billion VND. The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve traffic connectivity in the Hang Xanh and Binh Trieu bridge areas.

The project also proposes developing underground spaces, constructing landmark buildings, high-rises, green areas, cultural, sports, medical , and commercial service areas… combined with the application of intelligent transportation systems to optimize movement and minimize environmental impact.
